Over the weekend, I've noticed 2 ex-First York Citaros parked up on Knavesmire Road. I didn't catch the regs (sorry) but what is happening with them? They weren't there last week and haven't been at James Street. Is there any plan to move them elsewhere? Knavesmire Road is hardly a suitable place to keep them for a long time.

City Transport Group of Gateshead own at least 2 and are one of Northern's RRP suppliers. Could have been on layover in-between RRP trips?

They're in the York Park & Ride Livery but with branding removed.
As @YorkRailFan says, they're in plain blue livery.

I saw them today on my way to and from work. On the way, around midday, 11101 was parked on the east side of Knavesmire Road, about 3 car lengths north of Knavesmire Crescent; 11103 was parked on the same side of the road, about the same distance south of Knavesmire Crescent. Both were facing south. On the way home around 3 o'clock, I noticed that 11103 was still in the same location, but 11101 had moved away to some other location not on Knavesmire Road.

Photo is a screenshot from my rear bike camera and shows a blue bendy bus parked on Knavesmire Road in York.

I’ve checked PSV Circle news sheets and 11101 and 11103 both passed to City Transport, Newcastle last year.

Interesting. Mine is a Chase card which doesn't have the number printed on it, and scans as a different number to the one shown in the app.

I use Chase too, so I don't know how First plan on verifying those tap-ins (although I almost exclusively use Google Pay so I can get the virtual card number pretty quickly from the respective app).

First has published their West Yorkshire price increases from the end of the month.

They're persisting in causing confusion by making their First-only products the same price as the All-operator equivalents for the day and week tickets despite them having less validity. For monthly and longer they are lower.

From 30th March 2025, we're introducing changes to our fares, the new prices follow adjustments to the Mayor’s Fares scheme in West Yorkshire.

We’re also simplifying the way we charge our customers to make it fairer for everyone, meaning single journeys will cost either £2.00 or £2.50, depending on the distance travelled.

But don’t worry – you won’t have to figure this out for yourself. By using Tap On Tap Off, we’ll do the heavy lifting for you, working out the best value fare based on your journey. And no matter how often you travel, you’ll never pay more than the daily or 7 day cap.

We’re even working with your Local Authorities behind the scenes to keep fares lower wherever we can, so we can continue to offer a great value service that benefits both society and the environment.

So whether it’s getting you to work on time, saving you from the car park shuffle, or simply giving you a moment to chill out and people-watch, the bus is still here for you.

Any tickets not referenced below, will not be changing in price.

You can find details of our new fares below.

I was slightly surprised that they are not planning on any fare promos on the 382/383 which compete with the 184, which Bee Network/TFGM are keeping capped to £2.00. First don't usually like being undercut.

First has announced changes to their Leeman Road services (10L/59) from 21 March, due to a new road being constructed:

First has published a map of the new route and stops:
View attachment 175497
The new route for the 59 and 10L, which was supposed to have started on Friday, doesn't appear to be operational yet – the 59 is still tracking along Leeman Road today, but there hasn't been any update from First York on the delay. (I suppose it probably doesn't make a lot of difference, I'm sure it's obvious to passengers when you get there if the new road isn't open yet, but it would still be nice to know what was going on)

The road is nowhere near finished. It was obvious every time I saw it that it would never be finished in time for last Friday.

Came down on the 30 yesterday and can confirm it's far from complete.

Transdev hasn't put any information out about it whatsoever, at the way it's going, the 30/30X/31X will be going down Bootham before the new road is open leaving just the 19.

The usual uplift to Park & Ride services in York over Easter has been announced:
From Sunday 6th April to Saturday 19th April extra Park & Ride services will be running for the Easter holidays. Services 2, 3 & 9 will have more buses running Monday to Friday and services 7 & 8 will have more buses running Monday to Saturday.

A summary of Easter bank holiday weekend services and the frequency increases to Park & Ride services is outlined below:

Date & service:
Sunday 6th April
Normal Sunday timetable on all services

Monday 7th - Thursday 17th April
2, 3 & 9: Additional buses running Monday to Friday

7 & 8: Additional buses running Monday to Saturday

Friday 18th April (Good Friday)
Additional buses running on all services

Saturday 19th April
2, 3 & 9: Normal Saturday timetable

7 & 8: Additional buses running

Sunday 20th April (Easter Sunday)
Normal Sunday timetable on all services

Monday 21st April (Easter Monday)
Normal Monday timetable on all services

From Tuesday 22nd April
Normal timetable resumes on all services
This is made possible by the Uni services operating on a non-term time timetable, which frees up buses to be used on Park & Ride services:
During the Easter holidays, starting from Sunday 6th April to Saturday 19th April, University services U1 & U2 will be running a reduced non-term time timetable. Services U3, U4 and UN1 will not be running.

Date & service:
Sunday 6th to Saturday 19th April U1 & U2 will be running a reduced non-term time timetable. Services U3, U4 and UN1 will not be running
Sunday 20th April U1, UN1, U2, U3 & U4 will run on a normal Sunday term-time timetable
Monday 21st April (Easter Monday)Normal term-time timetable on all services
From Tuesday 22nd AprilNormal term-time timetable will resume on all services

I’ve seen a report that the 590/1/2/3 times are changing yet again in May. Rochdale journeys will run through but Burnley journeys will be reduced to hourly, all via the 592 route. 591 and 593 withdrawn. Stays 4bph to Hebden Bridge and 2bph to Todmorden.

So might it return to double deckers? Might the balance change between Halifax and Todmorden? Yet another cut and reshuffle of the routes!

The Lancashire County Council 'bus service changes' page for April/May confirms that so far as Burnley to Todmorden is concerned. Approx every 40 minutes at peak times, approx 60 minutes other times. Timetables are available online via bustimes.org and the link from there to BODS.
Link: overall dataset for operator then select show all sections, then select a date for after the change and apply filter, then select 'see more' to see all the stops (and again for t'other direction). Then select 2/3 and 3/3 to see the full day. It's slow to refresh, at least on my computer / internet link anyway.

590/1/2 timetable from May attached (Monday to Friday). Data extracted as is from BODS. That is rather a large gap arriving into Rochdale in the morning peak. My hope is that there is a data error.

Yes the hope is deckers will return to the service. Early mornings, evenings and Sundays now funded by West Yorkshire with support from Lancashire County Council

It looks from the timetable that it is maybe all run from Todmorden again. There would appear to be a journey missing from Halifax to Rochdale at around 06.54. There is a Halifax arrival at 06.44 and a Rochdale departure at 08.47 suggesting this. Maybe this is missing from the data because it differs on schooldays and non-schooldays, I have seen this happen on BusTimes.

Good if deckers return.

Wow - if shown correctly, that evening service is dreadful! Last buses around an hour earlier than currently in some cases, and only one bus per hour the whole way from Todmorden to Halifax. About the only winners are the inhabitants of Red Lees who now have an hourly evening service rather than alternate buses running via the (almost) useless Towneley route.

Even the current evening timetable has impacted my social life; I've already pretty much given up attending meetings held at the few venues for which the parallel train service is not convenient.

I've seen 39524 out and about in York in First Corporate livery, after being repainted from York RLFC livery. Any reason why this now wears the Corporate livery and not the Park & Ride livery the rest of the Metrodeckers wear?
