    Stations with split signalling control

All correct (nearest rival is Clapham Junction with 3 in 2 boxes, not counting the yard). If we count non NR signalboxes as well LB is joint top with Waterloo (and possibly Stratford) with 6 Back to West Hampstead now so St Pancras is now controlled by 3 in as many boxes.

LNER disruption between Leeds and Doncaster. (05/06)

You should be able to get frequent connections with other TOCs onto Leeds from York, as there’s no electrified diversionary route into Leeds (yet) this is the quickest alternative for an electric only train

    Noise on West London line?

Hello renegademaster is absolutely correct to say that people quickly adjust to this kind of thing, for the most part it’ll just fade into the background of city noise But to answer your question that particular line is the main way freight gets to and from the Channel Tunnel to the rest of...

Trivia: busiest British street divided by an operational level crossing?

I don’t think a ten thousand word essay from me around crossing camera strike in points, and assorted ancillary topics, would be a good use of the forum’s bandwidth, but suffice to say both of those things can be true in parallel on busy panels

Trivia: busiest British street divided by an operational level crossing?

The emergency services can certainly contact Network Rail, but, for various reasons, the cameras are often on more than they're off so it's quite easy for the signaller to spot. Blue lights can be seen on camera even when the vehicle emitting them is some distance away, so it's easily noticeable.

Trivia: busiest British street divided by an operational level crossing?

Wimbledon ASC, panel 5 All cameras on CCTV crossings in the UK can be manually turned on if needed Also back when it existed, Feltham West crossing could certainly go toe to toe with Lincoln for volumes (and was even worse in terms of misuse!)

    A career as a signaller

Both Tom Rolt and Adrian Vaughan’s writing styles raise my hackles to Sears Tower levels but it can’t be denied they’re both pretty popular (though I do agree Red for Danger is more a southern boxes thing for some reason) 1716932495 That being said I do agree with this. Whilst the methods of...

Well that puts the sphere of god into me but nonetheless I’ll place my Chorley cake on the table and proceed to Lancaster Gate

"la ligne des Causses" or "la ligne de l'Aubrac"

apologies I’m not really sure what happened with my timetable reading there but you are of course quite correct, my mistake

Most exotic licence plate personally spotted on UK road

Last year I think They can be but there’s little central monitoring of them so they can take a lot of forms

Most exotic licence plate personally spotted on UK road

Uzbek lorry at Clacket Lane at one point (presumably same story as the Kazakhs shuttling up and down to China) If anyone’s looking for Jersey (in particular) cars, look no further than the Poole North Premier Inn (or the bean can as it’s known), where many of them recess before the early ferry

well that’s good I hear those things are awfully loud…

    Mornington Crescent

Ah, 1938, that gives a very pleasing double quack on the Lewisworth-Duck rule that’s in place hereabouts. Given that a double quack requires carrying the three, we have to of course go to somewhere with step free access to carry it, so I’ll play Ickenham

"la ligne des Causses" or "la ligne de l'Aubrac"

Some trains are running, however the section between Andelat and Loubaresse, Cantal, is closed until October 31st for replacement of the pre-war (!) track. In addition to that there are rolling closures either side of Le Monastier, Lozère until the end of June. Hourly Intercités from...

    Revenue Protection at Brighton

Or just scrap the lot of the fare structure and start again (which is very speculative, and what you suggest would also work as a first step)

    Revenue Protection at Brighton

Yeah for the most part RPIs' presence is entirely dogmatic and they cause far more problems than they solve to the operational railway

    A career as a signaller

Don’t know the rosters I’m afraid but… South Tottenham is an NX panel and controls Harringay Green Lanes - Wanstead Park, plus a couple of stubs off those lines leading to other lines. 8 London Overground trains an hour and an average of roughly 2/3 freights/ empties an hour. Open 24 hours...

RMT turns down Network Rail Pay Offer

Yeah whilst the lie ins before a late turn are nice on lates it’s only the odd contrarian that, all other things being equal, genuinely prefers 8s, generally speaking

Ordinary passengers using heritage railways as public transport.

Whether those two are or aren’t heritage is an interesting question but can confirm that, growing up in Port Erin, this was quite common. (Especially when it was only a bit more expensive than the bus) Fondly remember, indeed, listening to a copy “Hybrid Theory” on a Discman behind no 15 on the...
