Yay! My thanks to "tubeprune" for that one. Nice simple question now, the Nightstar stock, originally intended for use on European sleepers... Firstly: where did they spend most of their time in store whilst in Britain? Finally: Where are they now, with who and trading as what...

    Train passengers trapped in heat

Electric doors, i'm for and against them personally...the ones on mark 4 stock open and close fast enough, yet the Virgin (Voyager and Super Voyager) ones are too slow. The good side about electric doors is that smaller people (like my friends) can actually open them, without falling out the...

    Train passengers trapped in heat

I bet Hull Trains were wishing that they'd swapped to 222s from 170s a few weeks later yesterday. Do we know what caused the power failure/cables down? I had a friend stuck on a HST just below Retford...took him an extra hour before the train moved again. Cheers Dave

    Royal Ascot at York

No idea whether this is the right place, but Ascot at York is making life interesting for staff at the station, and for us too! All exits and entrances are guarded by GNER, TPEX or Northern staff, and all of them must be commended for being so polite and efficient even when people are rushing...

    Tyne and Wear Metro

The metro is interesting to say the least...the acceleration and braking on a metrocar is "different" shall we say (the clunk as it pulls away from a station says it all!) The only problem is that they don't run frequently enough for my liking, which is why many people is Newcastle (or at least...

    OHLE 25kV or 750V DC third-rail

Just thought i'd throw in an example of what other countries think of 3rd rail...when Siemens began to build Desiros for the southern area, they had to install the test track at Wildenrath with a third rail. Now, instead of doing it as we in Britain do (big metal uncovered rail at side of...
