    Ticket office closures

Someone mentioned Reading West upthread, they’re still in the process of spending some millions there to build a completely new ticket office. Wonder if it will ever be used…

    Reading Green Park Station

Wonder if there's an outside chance that Reading Buses will win this ;)

TPE franchise to move to OLR

The staff insight on how TPE "works" is very illuminating.

Evening off-peak trains from Paddington to Reading

Thanks. But I'm quite comfortable with what I said.

Evening off-peak trains from Paddington to Reading

Yes, that's another factor in making it too expensive/inconvenient. TBH in the past I've just risked it on the off peak ticket for Reading to Tilehurst..

Evening off-peak trains from Paddington to Reading

It would be really helpful to the average train user if GWR published an explicit list of 1600-1930 trains from Paddington that ARE valid with an off peak ticket, rather than a whole slew of restrictions where you have to go and look at what is scheduled for the gaps in the restricted times, and...

    RMT strike action

Mick actually says: "Stage 2 discussions which are part of the offer made by the employer would then have to begin without the union having any industrial leverage at the negotiating table." That doesn't mean that a further strike about phase 2 isn't possible, just that it would have to be...

    RMT strike action

Quite. Seems like the main issue is just that the union want to be able to call a strike if they want to immediately without further ballots during phase 2, while the RDG position is that they'd have to reopen a dispute about whatever issue has actually arisen during the phase 2 discussion at...

GWML speed restriction near Purley on Thames

Trains on the Down Main have been running slowly across the embankment between Purley on Thames and Pangbourne for a few days now. I wondered about the cause if anyone knows ?

RMT TOC strike action called off

Agreed. There's a lot of misunderstanding about how much "the government" actually does. The civil service does most of everything in terms of administration, the government tries to influence their actions in a few places, with more or less success.

Bickley to Reading via Thameslink/Elizabeth line.

She’s 87 so presumably has a Freedom Pass, but I will check. I hadn’t realised that wasn’t a Tfl thing. Thanks for the other advice about changing at Blackfriars being possibly preferable.

Bickley to Reading via Thameslink/Elizabeth line.

I’ve been looking at planning a journey for an aged relative across London, minimising changes. An ideal solution would be Thameslink from Bickley to Farringdon, and then changing onto the Elizabeth line to Reading (I know this is a longer journey than using the tube and changing more often, but...

RMT TOC strike action called off

People have a touching faith in "the government" being able to actually do things. In reality, there have been a number of different rail ministers (let alone prime ministers) in the course of this dispute, and I doubt that they'd all have the same view on how to run it, so I'd bet that more...

    Network Rail RMT dispute settled.

It's mildly hilarious if the RMT is now presenting the pay rises as a huge win, when they're hardly different from what was "totally unacceptable" a couple of months ago. The "magnificent campaign" mentioned in the letter has certainly got the employers to move a bit on their offer, but who...

    Network Rail industrial action suspended

The tone of that RMT release seems very positive, unlike others in the past. E.g. they're quoting the big percentages and ignoring the fact that they're over 2 years. Rather than saying it's a measly 5%, or whatever, this year So presumably the "modernization" of maintenance will just happen...

RMT rejects latest offer from both Network Rail and RDG (TOCs)

Well, it is a key part of the RMT's constitution, so it shouldn't be a surprise if political opponents point that out.

    Reading Green Park Station

Since it's now February, I wonder if they've submitted the ORR application yet.

Which railway unions are on strike tomorrow?

Well, until the TFL-owned central section control staff go on strike, of course :)

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

I don't think so. My reading is the convergence process only starts after 5 years, and even then, they still get the same money, but half of it not as salary.

    Unite Network Rail Strikes Off

Agreed. Would be great if people could resist the temptation to express their opinion on it for the 100000000th time, so this thread can stay open.
