    Network SouthEast Route Symbols

The West Anglia logo is the heron bird. a segment in the book 'Along Different Lines: 70 Real Life Railway Stories' refers to this (The book can be found in online form on Google Books) In short, the reason for the choosing of the heron is that the West Anglia route is common ground for them...

TOPS Requests (including headcodes, allocations, traction, etc) [Instructions in Post 2]

Evening all, Hoping somebody will be able to advise on what will (or potentially will) be working this Moreton-on-lugg to Harlow Mill freight train? I assume it's going to be a GBRf 66, I'm just keen to know which one it could be so I can make a stop off somewhere on my way into London in the...

    C Stock

So would it be fair to assume that we won't be seeing a C on the H&C tomorrow morning then? Also if a C is currently on C215 that I believe means that it will stable in Triangle 34 and presumably mean that'll make it out into service tomorrow on it's planned diagram?

    C Stock

Brilliant thanks, an early morning journey to London on the Monday it is then!

    C Stock

Apologies if this comes across as a daft question, but does this imply that C Stocks will be doing their final running on the 2 lines on the Monday morning? Or is Friday their last 'planned' day on the Circle and H&C?

    C Stock

I'm told by sources that today is the last day of operation for C Stock on the Circle line. One set is running the line. Don't know which diagram it is or where it is, but it's definitely out. Correction: Not the last set. Jumped the gun ever so slightly there...

    C Stock

There certainly seemed to be a fair few C Stocks about on Monday, Circle line workings 201, 203, 205, 213 and 215 were certainly under C Stock power for at least part of the day, a signal failure around Barbican seemed to change things around. H&C working 237 was also observed as C Stock on the...

What is so attractive about the back seat?

I think it's something to do with those seats being seen as a 'position of power' for kids and teens, it's almost as though whoever sits at the back is superior to everybody else on the vehicle. I think the technical term for it is 'showing off'.

Does anyone give personal names to their trains

FCC non-stop train Kings Cross - Cambridge and vice-versa = Cambridge Cruiser GA all stops train Liverpool Street - Cambridge and vice versa = Cambridge Crawler I can't be the only one who refers to it as the crawler...

    "Unheard" Tube announcements?

Good point yes, 09TS do have those announcements setup within their system as I have observed an 09 saying 'National Rail services from Tottenham Hale are suspended.", this was when all West Anglia services were diverted via Seven Sisters and nothing was running via Tottenham Hale.

    Bizarre diagram

Ah yes that makes sense, figured it must have been either one or the other! And yes I'm aware, although the first number of the code is always correct, the rest is just randomly generated.

    "Unheard" Tube announcements?

I actually have got hold of worded examples of the 'emergency' announcements played on S Stock trains. Covering things from... "This train is terminating here because of an incident on the line ahead. Please take your belongings with you when you leave the train. All change please. London...

    Bizarre diagram

Looks like a Network Rail test train of one sort or another, the 3 in the headcode seems to confirm that

    1973TS doors open whilst moving?!

They were if you believe this story anyway... http://metro.co.uk/2013/10/23/calls-for-investigation-after-tube-train-doors-open-between-stations-with-baby-next-to-exit-4158013/ Struggle to take the whole story seriously. Not disputing it happened, something must have if it's news. But the...

    New S7 Underground stock

Thanks, figured the time it was standing in the West Ham siding was probably more than enough time to go via Plaistow bay and back.

    New S7 Underground stock

Excellent shall attempt to get out soon to catch that, apologies if this is a stupid question but is T753 still working to roughly the same times that it did when it was running to/from West Ham and the siding there?

    New S7 Underground stock

It's taken a while but edited (roughly!) footage of S7s on the Circle/District lines on their first week of operation (all taken 6th September 2013) has now hit Youtube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbApXuCJtOU Plan to go out again sometime soon and hunt down some more S7s, seeing as...

Network test train out on the Lee Valley this afternoon?

There's quite a few of them across the network, all in various formations and such like but there's definitely more than one about!

Network test train out on the Lee Valley this afternoon?

That was a Network Rail test train, running as 1Q71(I think) 10:14 East Ham E.M.U.D. to East Ham E.M.U.D. running via Gas Factory Loop, Barking Upney Junction, London Liverpool Street, Stansted Down Goods Loop, London Liverpool Street, Southend Victoria and Gas Factory Loop, DRS locos 37604 and...

    Northern Line 19th October

Yes it is the case that both central branches of the Northern Line will be closed on this weekend, I believe this is because of the installation of ATO signalling or something along those lines, with something like that it's better to close the lot in one go and get it over with rather than...
