Freedom Pass Detector at Underground Stations

The old air gates that are still in use in zone one on London Underground also have this monitor feature. There are also different settings for DOCs Required, short season and child. Another setting can also block monitored tickets/passes so the gate will not open.

    Amsterdam Eurostar

If you go downstairs to the metro there’s machines that will sell you ticket for 24 hours on tram and metro. The anonymous OV cards cost 7.50 EUR and are valid for a minimum of 5 years. Useful if you regularly travel in the Netherlands by bus/tram/train.

Virgin Euston Barrier Staff Again Ignoring Ticket Rules

Not the first time I’ve heard that VTWC staff causing agro. They refuse to accept TFL staff passes that are valid from EUS to WFJ on AC/DC lines. What makes me laugh though is the non protected virgin staff then trying to get a safeguarded priv discount being loaded onto their Oyster card when...

Northern Crossrail Leeds-Manchester receives PM backing

He delivered very little in his time as London as Mayor and head of TfL. Apart from expensive buses that had to be retrofitted with windows as they were so “hot” and wasting money on that garden bridge. He lied about keeping ticket offices open too. Not as bad as the £350 mil brexit bus lie...

    Using e-tickets and Merseyrail

The e tickets are a good move forward. You get an email with the ticket that has a choice to print it out, show the QR on the email or add the ticket to your mobile wallet. Some train companies also have an app where the ticket can be uploaded and then activated. As well as the above.

Northern Crossrail Leeds-Manchester receives PM backing

38 Years ago whilst doing a work placement at Regional Railways in Leeds I saw the plans to upgrade the line including the OLE. Fast forward to 2019. I’m sure the Leeds Manchester Picc route is still being operated by diesel trains. . I wouldn’t believe any thing that Boo ris has got to say...

    York to Wakefield via Harrogate

Is the reason why it states that the ticket is valid via Leeds to prevent you from travelling down to Doncaster and then up to York via ECML .

Validity of two area tickets on through train

Personally I think that the rail companies don’t like the practice of discounted TPE tickets. Look at the costs of bridging the tickets between Merseyside/Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire by purchasing single/return tickets the price is insane for that “one stop”

New job in London - Season ticket to Euston + Oyster or season ticket to zones 1-6?

Personally I would go with a paper ticket and wait for it to be upgrading to an LNWR ITSO Card. Splitting the fare between paper /oyster may trigger the fact that you touch in/touch out at Euston but don’t complete your journey?

Caught with a Zone 1&2 Travel Card... I was coming from Zone 4

Where in my reply do I state anything about buses? It’s purely why people use paper tickets because it’s a lot easier to evade your fare?

How is this quote relevant? The person stated that they were caught at a train station not a bus?

Caught with a Zone 1&2 Travel Card... I was coming from Zone 4

It’s a lot easier to cheat the system with a paper ticket. Purchase a 2-3/4/5/6 Travel Card on paper and you can travel through zone one as many times as you want, free until caught. This is one of the reasons why LU used to put coloured triangles on the bottom of an outer (non zone 1 ticket)...
