On a Zone 1 to 6 Travelcard, is it also correct that only buses within the zone are valid too?

Thanks, as I thought.Buses in any zone are valid
Thank you, I thought it was but had a driver on a 372 that wasn't keen. And outwith the zones as well (eg 81 to Slough, 465 to Dorking). In short, any travelcard is always valid on TfL buses wherever you use them.
Thanks, that reiterates the earlier answers.London Buses don't use zones anymore. Any Travelcard is valid on any London Bus regardless of which zones its valid for
Not sure if there is anymore. Can't think of any. Used to be the case that Travelcards were valid on most non-London Buses within London. Are there any non-London buses where a Travelcard can be used?
I believe it was to do with the introduction of the Oystercard about 20 years ago. The only way it would work on buses without having to swipe out as well was to have one zoneless flat fareThanks, that reiterates the earlier answers.
There are other implementations elsewhere in the world where the customer has to press a button to choose a fare before tapping the card. The only way it would work on buses without having to swipe out as well was to have one zoneless flat fare
According to Thurrock council Bus 372 is a “cash free” tfl bus. https://www.thurrock.gov.uk/bus-fares/bus-fares-in-thurrockThank you, I thought it was but had a driver on a 372 that wasn't keen.
I think that goes for all TfL services though...According to Thurrock council Bus 372 is a “cash free” tfl bus. https://www.thurrock.gov.uk/bus-fares/bus-fares-in-thurrock
Doing that in London would slow down boarding too much, defeating the point of the Oystercard. It would only be necessary for season ticket holders anyway, so even more pointlessThere are other implementations elsewhere in the world where the customer has to press a button to choose a fare before tapping the card.
In contrast, a travelcard must include zone 3, 4, 5 or 6 when using the tram. A zones 1 and 2 only travelcard wouldn’t be valid. And outwith the zones as well (eg 81 to Slough, 465 to Dorking). In short, any travelcard is always valid on TfL buses wherever you use them.
The trams are complicated. They've tried to charge them like buses, but as you say, a Travelcard for any of Zone 3, 4, 5 or 6 is valid on any tram. And English Concessionary passes are not valid on themIn contrast, a travelcard must include zone 3, 4, 5 or 6 when using the tram. A zones 1 and 2 only travelcard wouldn’t be valid.
Looking at TfL's Conditions of Carriage, the only "non-London" route mentioned is Arriva Kent Thameside's route 477, but only between Orpington Station and Kevington Crouch Farm, which appears to be about halfway between Orpington and Swanley. Not sure if there is anymore. Can't think of any. Used to be the case that Travelcards were valid on most non-London Buses within London.
But having said that, most of those routes have now come under contract to TfL now
