Old railway carriages repurposed for other uses.

Yeah, I think they're doing what they can, when they can. Must be a labour of love!

Old railway carriages repurposed for other uses.

Here we go - sorry this took a while. Needed to find some excuse to pop over that way! Looks like a bit more work has been done over the winter, so it is being cared for (which is nice)

I'll head over that way at some point within the next few days - I'd be interested to see how he finished it, too!

Old railway carriages repurposed for other uses.

That's not far from me at all. This was last September - the chap whose garden it's in has been restoring it somewhat over the last six months, so it's alot tidier now. Also, the place it's located is a place called Whaplode Drove... which is literally the middle of nowhere.

    Next 50 Bids for reopenings

Whoops. Sorry, sir *scuttles back off into hole where I rightfully belong*

    Next 50 Bids for reopenings

Totally agree with these two - seeing as they're very much in my neck of the woods - but unfortunately, I can't see the KL- Hunstanton line ever opening again, despite the blatant benefits that it would bring the local area (a massive reduction in congestion on the Hunstanton road every time...

    Disused lines with cycle paths

The old route from [where] Swansea Victoria [used to be] to Penclawdd can be pretty much cycled uninterrupted, bar a few places (the route between Dunvant Station and Gowerton used to be my walk home from school!). There are tons of old remnants too, if you know where to look. Here's the route...

Govenment Briefing 23rd May - Reversing Beeching Cuts

Let's be honest here - the media have been knives out for Cummings for ages, so this was a massive gift to them, irregardless of who was doing the briefing today. Also, I suspect they would have found *something* on him at some juncture, so let's ignore that bit and focus on the positives - I'm...

Driving Instructor. Sorry, I've been indoctrinated already (typed it without thinking!)

    Radio presenters

Must laugh - used to work in radio and also, have worked with quite a number of the people that have been mentioned in this thread... Quit last year to become an ADI as it's become the most tone-deaf, self-aggrandising and irrelevant media out there. The BBC are the worst offenders as I swear...

EU Referendum: The result and aftermath...

oh and funding a whole heap of projects in the areas where the majority then voted to leave (A465 dualling in S. Wales, for example) Nasty, evil EU.

Electric Cars - likely to reduce rail travel?

Now, if Tesla did a scrappage scheme...!! You're right about the nearly new market and hire companies. That, indeed, will be that. ha For anyone reading this and sitting on the fence currently, go watch a few YouTube channels ("Our Ludicrous Future" & "Fully Charged", for example)...

Electric Cars - likely to reduce rail travel?

Been doing ALOT of research on this lately. So much so that I'm getting shot of my new(ish) Passat on Monday because by the time I come to trade it in for something in a couple of years time, it'll be worthless (keeping my older Golf until the current price of EVs drops a touch). ICE cars have...

High cost of train travel apparently influencing peoples choice of university

Much better written than some of the posts on here. How old are you again?! When I was at uni, I could have taken the train literally to the front door of the place every day but my lectures were at such weird times that I figured it was easier, cheaper and quicker to drive from Swansea to...

Acton Bridge: A Station with Local Strange Neighbours

why would that be the case, considering that the current owner is the root cause? Once he goes away, the problem goes away?

Acton Bridge: A Station with Local Strange Neighbours

Nah, that carpet in the bedroom would put me right off... Conversely, I was down at the old Wolferton station the other week and had a lovely conversation with the lady who owns the old station master's house (who enjoyed having a chat about the place and was glad I was showing my son around!)...

    Removing abandoned railway carriages?

On the note of Urbex-ers... trashing/stealing from locations runs counter to what they're actually doing, which is documenting and exploring abandoned places - many of which have a story to tell. Personally, I find the whole escapade fascinating (but that's just me).

    Dismantling a model railway.

So how big is the new N layout going to be (total length)? If it's going to fit into a similar loft-space, it'll stretch for miles (in scale!!)

    Dismantling a model railway.

Yes. Approve of the portaloo. So do the workers, I bet. I love what you've done there (the abandoned part) as I've recently done a very similar thing (on the right-hand side of the below picture). Basically, I couldn't decide what to do with that part as it had been changed round a few times...

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

One of the reasons I moved from Letchworth in 2016... wasn't the place I moved to in 2007!
