Yes I don't really understand what the issue is. Even if the railways were paying for them (I doubt they are) what is wrong with providing extra services?
That’s what the second set of lights across the road are for. I get it stops cutting corners but if you are driving a long wheel base vehicle or a lorry then that makes it a lot more awkward.
Automatic Route Setting and the ability to have some routes remain set in are there as aides to the signaller, not replacement. It would be far to risky to let a panel or workstation work on its own without supervision as there would be no one there in an emergency and most locations deal with...
The headcode is still there now so probably just an error in the data feeds. I'm sure the headcode wont be there on the actual panel/workstation/whatever.
Switch & Crossings might be an issue even with a flat rail and flat wheel.
Extra costs for maintenance of both track and train and added weight to the train. And when all said and done the same gross weight is transferred to the sleepers and track bed so don't really see what advantage there is.
I've seen no pictures of a third load bearing rail anywhere. Given trains have wheels on both sides only, exactly how does this 3rd load bearing rail work?
