Do you stand up more to people who are sexist and misogynistic on public transport in the wake of Sarah Everard's murder?

After 2 years of no football fans, I was on a train full of them. A small group where chanting "Wayne Couzens did nothing wrong". No-one told them it wasn't OK to say that and I was too scared. Would you stand up more to people who are sexist and misogynistic on public transport in the wake of...

British people and queuing at railway stations

Why do British people like queuing but never do at railway stations? They always crowd around the door, unlike in Japan where people queue to board trains. Just seems a bit odd to me they are happy to queue everywhere else!

National Rail & British Transport Police campaign regarding sexual harassment on the Railway

I completely agree that there's nothing wrong with the BTP highlighting this. However, my concern is those with disabilities. My friend who has tourettes looks completely normal but his "tick" is staring at people and licking his lips. He gets in trouble with the police a few times a year and...

    Passenger Complaint regarding Gender

This has to stop. Its ridiculous. We are supposed to have freedom of speech. People should not have to worry about losing their job by saying some wrong in ordinary conversation.

No, but I didn't want my face scanned and put in a database, as I am a big supported of privacy.

    Facial Recognition

Well your worst fears have come to life https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-49357759 I actually sometimes go to the Alan Turing Institute for work, and wore a motorcycle helmet through the station to protect my privacy.

    Database for transport advice

Thinking about more ideas ... the app could track times between bus stops so it could flag any anomalies (delays).

    Database for transport advice

I have been thinking whether an online database could be useful for collating travel advice? It could be very useful for people looking at an unfamiliar area to move to. For example, i could add: London bus routes 433/64 Morning commute towards East Croydon station, you have to be getting on...

    Crossing Divides On The Move

The BBC has been doing a series called Crossing Divides On The Move encouraging people to talk to strangers on public transport. https://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/aboutthebbc/entries/e7151eb1-890f-489b-87f3-a1099d56f2c9 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-48622007 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-48459940...

Man filmed screaming racist abuse at couple on GWR

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/racist-attack-paddington-bristol-train-2221438 Seen a lot of these videos lately ... I always wonder what started it as IMO that's the most important thing. Playing devils advocate, the Chinese could could have racial abused him in the first place.

    Women only parking spaces

I have to get on my soapbox with this one. Why cant frail, elderly people get their own safer parking spaces? Why cant disabled people have their spaces more secure?

Report suggests vaping on buses and trains "should be considered"

What a bunch of ****. Vaping is banned for the same reason drinking alcohol is, it's anti social.

Blind person with guide dog ignored & discriminated against

Sad to see this happening. I would think station staff would be more helpful, or maybe he needs to book assistance?

    Not Wanting to go home

I'm glad you brought this up, I was thinking of starting a thread on this. I had to work last night and as there was no public transport today i am staying in a hotel on my own.

Saying "Pardon me" when sitting next to someone

Interesting! In the same vein, I only go for a seat next to a gentleman first before I sat next to a lady.

Saying "Pardon me" when sitting next to someone

I was brought up to say "Pardon me" when sitting in an empty seat next to someone on a train or bus. I just think this is good manners but does anyone else do this?

Is your life any less important than the Royals and other VIPs?

I don't think in the UK those people get police protection ... they have to pay for private bodyguards. It's actually nice to see famous actors, singers etc get searched at airports, it brings them down a notch.

Is your life any less important than the Royals and other VIPs?

I'm glad the OP brought this up. I think this country has a "VIP culture", which is a phrase they use in Pakistan. From the BBC: I absoutely hate that some people get protection while I dont. The police should be defending it's citizens rather then politicans or royalty. It is very unfair...
