HSTs in Mexico - news and progress updates

If that guy at the end filming out the back cab while moving did that in the UK, that would be an RAIB investigation and a tea and biscuits meeting before the footage could be uploaded.

    Ohio Train Fire 4/2/23

I've seen some claims that this story is not getting much press coverage despite its significant impacts; I can understand why not in the UK as it's not a domestic story (although it clearly is getting some coverage here), but can anyone confirm if this is/was the case in the US?

    Eurostar Disney Direct services 2023

So on top of not serving Kent, they're now not going direct to Marne-la-Vallee (i.e. Disneyland) from June next year, which by happy coincidence is around the time the biometric checks are currently due to be introduced: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-62728618

    Class 373 Eurostar withdrawals

Given all the talk of Eurostar bailout demands and being in financial dire straits I expect the current 373s will either not be going anywhere anytime soon, or if withdrawn won't be replaced, unless it's possible to get new stock in despite potentially being bailed out.

    Class 373 Eurostar withdrawals

From memory some those speed signs around Ashford offer both values but as the km/h is typically rounded up or down there is a difference between their values if one was converted to the other. For example there are 40mph sections with 60km/h signs linked to them, when actually 40mph is 64km/h...

    Class 373 Eurostar withdrawals

Yes I initially wanted to ask about why an old set was stored on the Fawkham jct link after observing it while in the area, then a couple of other threads were started on either that subject or on the 373 withdrawal generally, where before long they were all merged into this single thread. I...

    Class 373 Eurostar withdrawals

Didn't realise they only stored one set there, I was under the belief that, on hearing about the scrap plans from the start of this thread last year, that most sets were one by one held there, "in a queue". But now you mention it, it kind of makes sense that no more than one was held there...

    Class 373 Eurostar withdrawals

Have all the 373s that are being withdrawn now been moved out and scrapped? In my most recent visit to the Fawkham junction area yesterday, along with previous visits back as far as August no set is visibly being stored on the link.

    Mumbai flooded railway viral video

Another issue that might come from this scenario is the apparent higher risk of derailment that I believe comes with water levels going above the track height.

    Mumbai flooded railway viral video

Just seen this video where a train passes through a flooded Mumbai station and sprays everyone that might be of interest: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-asia-india-41350289/mumbai-train-gets-water-ride One thing I particularly thought of when I saw it was how determined the Indians are...

    Class 373 Eurostar withdrawals

While it's quite easy to set a train up for preservation while scrappage/withdrawal is occurring, is it currently necessary while Eurostar intends to maintain a few sets for continued service in the foreseeable future? They definitely should preserve at least one though I agree.

    Class 373 Eurostar withdrawals

6 months on from discovering the Eurostar set on the now unconnected (mechanically and electronically) Fawkham Junction link, there is still one sitting there after passing a few days ago. Both RAIL magazine and people in this thread have said awaiting the scrap is the reason. My question now...

    Class 373 Eurostar withdrawals

Yesterday I cycled through the area of the Fawkham link again and, like the previous 3-4 times since I started the thread there is still a 373 set positioned there. Based on this sighting could it be the same set from early summer or are they being moved and scrapped as has been suggested?

    Class 373 Eurostar withdrawals

Are you sure??? :? I've haven't been along the Chatham Main line in that area since around last Christmas but I remember it being connected then. While I admit it sees little if any use, I'm sure if it was disconnected I'd have read about it somewhere. :?

    Class 373 Eurostar withdrawals

While cycling this evening around the Fawkham Jct link area, I spotted a class 373 on the up line stationary, which is odd for a no. of reasons, notably why it was there given if it had gone further it would have lost its power supply (with no 3rd rail shoes anymore), and how it would have got...

    Eurotunnel

The last and only time I used the shuttle there were only toilets and maybe something else on the train, but as already said, the terminal centre has loads of facilities availiable. If you were travelling with a group of people, you might be able to talk business for at least almost all the...
