Given all the talk of Eurostar bailout demands and being in financial dire straits I expect the current 373s will either not be going anywhere anytime soon, or if withdrawn won't be replaced, unless it's possible to get new stock in despite potentially being bailed out.

Didn't realise they only stored one set there, I was under the belief that, on hearing about the scrap plans from the start of this thread last year, that most sets were one by one held there, "in a queue". But now you mention it, it kind of makes sense that no more than one was held there...

Have all the 373s that are being withdrawn now been moved out and scrapped? In my most recent visit to the Fawkham junction area yesterday, along with previous visits back as far as August no set is visibly being stored on the link.

Another issue that might come from this scenario is the apparent higher risk of derailment that I believe comes with water levels going above the track height.

While it's quite easy to set a train up for preservation while scrappage/withdrawal is occurring, is it currently necessary while Eurostar intends to maintain a few sets for continued service in the foreseeable future? :idea: They definitely should preserve at least one though I agree.

6 months on from discovering the Eurostar set on the now unconnected (mechanically and electronically) Fawkham Junction link, there is still one sitting there after passing a few days ago. Both RAIL magazine and people in this thread have said awaiting the scrap is the reason. My question now...

Yesterday I cycled through the area of the Fawkham link again and, like the previous 3-4 times since I started the thread there is still a 373 set positioned there. Based on this sighting could it be the same set from early summer or are they being moved and scrapped as has been suggested?

Are you sure??? :shock: :? I've haven't been along the Chatham Main line in that area since around last Christmas but I remember it being connected then. While I admit it sees little if any use, I'm sure if it was disconnected I'd have read about it somewhere. :?
