there is a Swanage > London Victoria Steam Train at 5pm today.
:) here it is, at the Beaulieu Road stop, nearly 1 hour behind its booked path.

The loco's sparks regrettably created lineside fires - firstly, nr Winchfield; secondly, on Christchurch bank (Hinton Admiral).
The latter damaged NR cables - impacting all SWR services between Brockenhurst and Weymouth.
Network Rail requested that the Black 5 be removed and left at Swanage

Arterio 701 EMU "drags" to and ftom Marchwood, have been intermittent recently.
69011 (attached) brought one unit down from Wimbledon on 9th May. I think 69008 did another two subsequent workings.

Another drag, Marchwood to Wimbledon, pathed 27th June:
The inbound loco (69009) ran to Marchwood. Loco and unit were unable to couple successfully, however.
The 1:15pm path to Wimbledon Park depot, was cancelled - 69009 returned light to Eastleigh.
(Thanks to @ls2270 for the insight)

Less common visitor this morning - Colas 56094 headed the late 6C04 Hedge End to Eastleigh (ran via Portsmouth Direct Line, Woking and SWML).

Winchester way today, for a pair of "doubles".
Tbe LSL HST power cars were collecting Mk3 charter stock.
The 50s were off to Eastleigh Arlington, for repaints into BR large logo blue.
Yep, only saw on RTT yesterday of it, luckily on Tuesday there is a steamer going through Southampton which I'll see, and theres another steam train in a few weeks time. Im going to the Watercress Gala next Saturday which im hoping has the HST.

Ah yes - Clan Line on RTC's "The End of Southern Steam" to Weymouth. The outward run isn't pathed via So'ton; and the return comes through early evening.

I hope Mid Hants Gala is good. I lived fairly close to it for 5 years; and I was a regular visitor to it.
If you're in a car, there are a couple of photogenic locations on the Ropley to Medstead road; and also by the churchyard overlooking Alresford station (5 mins walk.from the station).

Couple of unusual workings past Havant, mid today and mid Friday:

Mid-Thursday: 50008 + 50021 + 4TC Eastleigh to Alton (for gala):

Friday pm: 69012 fresh out of the paintshop, making its inaugural trip:

Photos of the 50s here.
I didn’t get a shot of 69012 in its "D0280 Falcon tribute" livery - it was running more than one hour behind its booked path.
And a 50008 + 50021 to Eastleigh after the Gala had ended, my chance to see it now or probably never again

Yes, if this darned rain eases up, I'll try a shot of their return.
(12:55) yet to leave Alton, according to RTT. (the booked dep was 11:21). On the "Non urgent TOPS queries" thread, I have asked for any insight about that delay.

59104, in fresh Freightliner livery, returned from the Gala on Sunday evening. It was held for twenty minutes, just north of Havant; which killed any hope of a sunlit shot.

On this page of my local loco-hauled photo thread: 11-July's pair of 50s + 4TC heading for Mid Hants gala - plus today's Belmond Pullman (TnT with the "Royal" 67s) which ran ECS Pulborough to Fratton and back.

GWR on the SWML today.
802021 Paddington to Eastleigh Works. Was pathed as departmental (class 5) service. First IET that I've seen in south Hampshire.
YouTube footage exists of GWR 802003 at Eastleigh (video added 27-June 2022), but the clip doesn't give any details.

I'm still trying to find out which unit - it sped past faster than I could read - and the purpose of the working today.

Heard about that, and a Class 37, didn't see it though as weather hes been too hot to go out these past days

'Boxes at Bognor:

During August and September, GBRf has run very occasional route learning paths out of Tonbridge Yard around Sussex.
August's two turns, oddly, included a short rake of bogie box wagons. This month's two trips have been just the EDs.
Oh - and a tamper at the foot of the West Sussex route, on a working I thought would yield a 73...

It looks superb - just how I recall the 37/9s when they were first converted.

Monday 23rd, 37401 + 57003 did indeed leave Eastleigh; but the Tractor became unwell and was curtailed at Bletchley.
I saw a YouTube clip yesterday of a rather excellent consist: 86101 (IC) + 37401 (ScR).+ 57003 (RfD).+ 43058 (BluePul).

Saw a great convoy of 37401 + 57002 + 43058 all in brand new LSL liveries
An hour before that 57002 went into Eastleigh Arlington to go for a repaint {it was thought that it was being a scrap donor but turned out to be a repaint}
{images might be in bad quality as the size of the image is tiny, plus it was stormy out there!}Screenshot 2024-09-23 183416.pngScreenshot 2024-09-23 183300.pngScreenshot 2024-09-23 183449.png
