18:06 Harrogate - Leeds - Sheffield

I'm curious about the 18:06 service that starts at Harrogate, goes to Leeds then back out to form a Sheffield via Rotherham service

Generally always a pair of 150s

Mainly what is the purpose of starting it from Harrogate, why it then ends up in Sheffield and if anything happens to it after that! (as the Harrogate line is generally a self contained Leeds - York and vice versa route with the odd LNER chucked in)

It essentially is a peak extra on the Harrogate line, that then switches to the Sheffield route to cycle units around the system.

An arrival from Sheffield at Leeds goes to Neville Hill at the same time.

2N25 1715 Sheffield to Leeds works 5N25 1843 Leeds to Neville Hill T&R.S.M.D

After arrival at Sheffield one unit ends up back in Leeds, and then Neville Hill, the other ends the night in Doncaster.

Seems to start at Harrogate at 0633, then does some morning peak services (stays at Leeds) and afternoon peak services before going to Sheffield (see above) where it splits and does some Sheffield locals.

It seems today the split happened earlier at Leeds vs Sheffield. Both units sat spare where 271 is Penciled in on 1648 Sheffield before a tour of South Yorkshire. 206 1709 back to Harrogate, then Leeds Sheffield finishing at Neville Hill as posted above :)

Just cycling the units, day 1 and 2 are low milage diagrams just a couple of trips on the Harrogate extras and then down to South Yorks for a few days to bring the units that have being down there back to Neville Hill for some TLC

Interesting, thanks :)

I seem to remember several years ago it actually skipped calls at Headingley and Burley Park but these days it does call at all the stations between Harrogate and Leeds
