Of course there are a few variations on what is the ECML and what have you but what the heck, here you go.:p

Just imagine from a ticketing point of view, if the same stations existed today, how many splits there could be....:D

Amazing to think how many stations have closed..

Nowhere near enough to a Pacer :(
13 stations in the first 30 miles...wow

many of which would be well used today if say a 321 or similar was to spend the day trundling up and down between Edinburgh, berwick and newcastle. The suburban haults in Edinburgh would also releav crouding on the 26 and 44 bus runs and East Lothian residents would have a greater choice.

I would say that if a LM type service was established on the ECML, some of the stations (at less in the southern ends) could be reopened, For example If the robin hood line extension took place, then it's possible tuxford might be opened again if it could connect to a service to London/Edinburgh

Chathill, Acklington, Widdrington and Pegswood are still open. Just.

Is the reopened Arlesey on the same site as the old Arlesey & Shefford?

Alnmouth is now suffixed 'for Alnwick', Newcastle is sometimes suffixed 'Central', and Selby is now avoided :)

I've got a book Hitchin to Peterborough and by looking at two photos within the book, it looks like the existing booking office was pretty much built on the site of the old signal box so in answer to your question yes I do believe the reopened Arlesey is on the same site as the old Arlesey & Shefford station.

There are new stations at Musselburgh and Wallyford.

Where would they be if they were on the 1922 list though?

If we're discussing LM type services, I wouldn't mind seeing the existing Newark terminators being handed over to FCC using either Class 411s from Siemens upgraded to work off the UK gauge or Class 395s from Hitachi both of which could be the GN's answer to South Eastern's High Speed Services although they would see luxury items such as onboard catering, wifi, power plugs etc...thus decreasing the workload on the existing East Coast fleet and allowing it to be used on other East Coast services.

They would be either side* of the former station at Inveresk

Edinburgh Waverley
Abbeyhill
Piershill
Portobello
Joppa
New Hailes
Musselburgh
Inveresk
Wallyford
Prestonpans for Tranent
Longniddry
Drem
East Fortune
East Linton
Dunbar

*This is just by comparing the approximate mileages shown in the 1922 book with the present. Inveresk is shown as 6½ miles from Waverley and the current book has Musselburgh at 5¼ and Wallyford at 7½. For clarity, New Hailes is shown as 4¾ and Prestonpans for Tranent 9½.

Actually not sure why I put Gateshead West in the list, I think it was in case any train left Newcastle via the High Level Bridge.

I was also going to do the WCML but I thought there would be too much of a fight healthy debate over which was the correct line as there are several possibilities, i.e. via Northampton, Birmingham, Trent Valley etc to name but a few. If there is ever a concensus, I'll put together the WCML too. Might have to incorporate more than one possibility in it anyway.....:)

Musselburgh is essentially New Hailes, maybe just a slightly different location. Inveresk is slap-bang between Musselburgh and Wallyford. Wallyford serves some 1940s/50s housing and may have been called Levenhall if the station existed in 1922.

I think FCC should probably be redrawn to not include Thameslink, but to do semi-fasts to Leeds, Doncaster and Bradford instead.
