Just a gentle reminder that we are talking about access to rail company first class lounges in this thread.

If anyone wants to discuss anything else then they are welcome to start a new thread elsewhere.

I've moved some posts that were discussing access to airline lounges to here:

As a second point, is there a 1st class lounge at Glasgow Queen Street?

No, there isn't.

The only ScotRail-operated First Class lounge I'm aware of is the one at Aberdeen.

CrossCountry must have been too tight to pay for their (Advance) ticket-holders to gain access to this lounge, as they are the only operator who are not permitted access.

Non-Advance XC First Class tickets are of course valid on routes south of Aberdeen so would gain access.

From recent experience, it seems that anyone holding any kind of ticket is buzzed into the lounge without question.

Trip report: I arrived at the Edinburgh LNER lounge with my 1st Class Anytime Return to Glasgow to be told that it is only for those catching LNER trains.
I did politely point out that the sign behind the receptionist stated "anytime first class on the LNER network", aka. valid LNER to be told that they don't serve Glasgow.

Anyway, seems a bit odd that there isn't a first class lounge for ScotRail travellers at either Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Did you point the staff member at their own timetable...? :D
I did at which point the argument changed to there being a 2 hour limit and therefore I couldn't use the lounge because it was more than 2 hours before the next LNER train to Glasgow.

I mean, I get it: I am not a bona fide LNER customer. But it's not what it says on the door or website, and LNER would (in days of old) get a share of the ORCATS from tickets between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Next time I'll say that I am catching the next LNER to Haymarket and breaking my journey there.

I note that the LNER lounge at Edinburgh is currently closed as seen in the statement below:-

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Edinburgh First Class lounge will be closed until further notice.”

Does anyone know what these”unforeseen circumstances“ are and have an idea on the timescale for reopening?
