390010 VT livery variation

Morning all,

I was at Crewe last night, and spotted Pendolino 390010 passing through, without the white diagonal stripes on any of it's doors, which were just plain grey. Does anyone know if this is a new livery variant VT are trying out, or is there another reason for it?

Most of the 9 car ones have got the grey doors. Not seen an 11car set thats done yet though.When they went through the refresh where the extra standard coach was changed from 1st a lot of the sets done towards the end of that programme have grey doors

That may well be true, but it seems somewhat bizarre with the stripes being nicely contrasting with the body sides. The law and standards can be 'backward' at times. Is it one of those things where the stripes were an unexpected (from the rule compilers' viewpoint) solution to the rules and so the rules were changed?
