If it's an axlebox problem as per post #4, wouldn't that be original cl47 equipment rather than Progress/EMD? Or were the bogies and/or axles modified during the conversion?

They have axle speed sensors. I bleive

The CP11 axles were modified for the Class 57 project (Class 47 Re-Engine) and they now use gearcase speed sensors, and a few other minor mods.

There are NO SPARE wheelsets, and NO SPARE gearcases available.

Hence, wheelsets park up a lot of 57s, and Brush isn't exactly in a state to deliver new ones or overhauls.

There are the 57's just sold by DRS, couldn't one of those be stripped and the parts reconditioned for GWR to use :s

I'd be interested to hear how they wired up sleeper cars with a surrogate HST DVT and Cl91 during it's testing!
The buffer-fitted HST power cars used on this testing had RCH jumper cables fitted that transmitted the TDM signals to/from the Class 91 - all BR loco-hauled coaching stock had RCH jumpers fitted (they were used for train lighting control) which meant that, in theory at least, any air-braked, electric heated coach could be used in such a formation. The stock in the test trains got its train supply from the Class 91.

Railcam shows that 57602 did a test run up to Par and back last Thursday (29th). Any update on this? Successful? Any idea when it will be back in service?
