Good morning,

I’m looking for some advice and further info regarding the location of the signaller training centres. I’ve read on some posts the only centre is in Leeds yet I’ve seen other posts suggesting they are training in Coventry, Peterborough or Watford?

Are there more than one training centre,
If you live more than 4 hours train ride away are you required to stay at a hotel and only come home weekends? How much allowance are you given for travel and food etc?
Is the course actually a full 12 weeks long that you stay at the training centre or are you at your local box for any period of this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hiya, I would look in the Career as a Signaller thread https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/a-career-as-a-signaller.130571/ Worth a read all the way through for almost anything you need to know about the whole process. Might be best to ask questions there as well as it keeps them all together for everyone. To answer your question, York, Basingstoke, Coventry (Westwood) and Perth are where most of it happens.

I think Leeds is closed.
A ot of them are at York.

They will encourage you to stay at the hotel even if you live close to the training centre as you need to do a ot of study with the other trainees as well as putting in the time on the sim.

Train tickets will be provided for you to get to the centre. You'l need to be there for 9:30 on monday and so travel on Sunday if there isn' time on monday morning. You leave at midday on Friday.

You get fed breakfast at the hotel, and a buffet or £20 allowance for dinner. Lunch is provided at school.

The course is 12weeks. Some people get a week in their box before starting.

Thanks John some helpful info there.

I’m curious to know of all the training centres that train signallers and have the simulator in house.
As I said previously I’ve noticed on some other threads mentions of training centre places outside of York such as Coventry, Peterborough and Watford.

Thanks again for everyone’s help and info, it is very much appreciated.
