Ashley Down station: experiences of using the new station and trip planning discussion

Sadly it looks like what I was worrying about in the leadup to the station opening is happening. The reliablility of the Filton shuttle (i.e. the fact it seems to get cancelled all the time) seems to be getting in the way of Ashley Down being a useful station.

Yesterday late afternoon / early evening had a few services cancelled (and whilst they were able to stop a couple of Gloucester stoppers, it doesn't look like anything was added towards Temple Meads) and it looks like the same today.

And sadly Sundays (where the shuttle doesn't run so services are provided by the south West to Cardiff stoppers) aren't any better. By my count today there were only two northbound services that actually ran (and one of those was 40 mins late). The rest were either cancelled outright or terminated early. I doubt the southbound stats are much better and it doesn't look like extra services were stopped either.

Does anyone have the mileage for Ashley Down-Filton Abbey Wood yet?

Catching up on my RailMiles for the last couple of weeks and it's missing.

Finally stopped their since reopening. Surprised how busy it was on the Filton stopper.

I’ve been using it occasionally in the day time and there’s often 10+ people waiting to go to Temple Meads or getting off a train from from Temple Meads, it feels like a strong start given the infrequent service…
