I wonder how many decades it would take for the UK to attempt anything like this? Bring back Mallard, all is forgiven :D

There is a good chance that this speed will never be achieved again by any train. New high speed trains will be distributed power multiple units, which cannot have carriages removed to make them faster for record attempts as has been done with the TGV on this and previous occasions. In fact the carriages on this run were testing the powered bogie design for the distributed power AGV, which helped it achieve such a speed.

Didn't they increase the OHL voltage specifically for the record attempt as well?

That, and increased tension. Not sure if they put bigger driving wheels on as well- in the past, SNCF's engineers have gone as far as adding spoilers to whhat would be the rear for the recrord run, extra fairings and smoother diaphragms between cars.

Think there were, apart from the AGV bogies, less modicfcations made to that set, and being double decker, they had space for a sizable press contingent on board in addtion to the monitoring equipment.
