555 from Windermere to Keswick is pretty scenic
After a month, I'd thought I'd reopen this thread.
Is the X5 (operated by Salisbury Reds) from Salisbury to Swindon a good route to film a full route visual?
I plan to do the X7 soon. Afterwards I'll do the Activ8. Are they both nice routes as well?
No problem for me, I will normally do it backwards, or, in the case of some type of buses that offer front seats (such as Mercedes-Benz Citaros or B7RLE Wright Eclipse 2s), to film it frontwards like I would normally do on a double decker.
102 is a great route with massive contrast if you do the full Dover to Rye the 100/101 is nice as well but beware of the tight connections in Rye.
10X is alright but you get a lot of E200 (check the usual allocation on Bustimes.org as ashford don’t normally stray from this)
10 is a good route but you do get a bit of a tour around the estates in folkestone - normally a Trident 2, Gold 400 or Mmc as Folkestone have no concept of route specific branding (again check on bustimes an you can see allocation)
1/1A/1X is alright - but if u do it do the Full Ashford to Canterbury (1X during the day)
never been on the 2/2A so can’t say but I’d say it’s a bit boring
Not based in North East Kent so cant comment on the Triangle/Breeze and Loop
Other good ones :
18 is really nice but is always a single
17 is good as passes through the Elham Valley and you can get a decker most times
And 111 Thursdays only is a good one although run by a dart
The 11A and 123 are also worth a mention
An understatement, I don't think they even pretend there is a connection. I agree with the 102 - particularly the section after New Romney towards Camber.102 is a great route with massive contrast if you do the full Dover to Rye the 100/101 is nice as well but beware of the tight connections in Rye.
Nothing special. I personally prefer the 2A from the top deck - simply because you can see where you think you are going to be in 5 minutes time - but wouldn't go out of my way to catch it.never been on the 2/2A so can’t say but I’d say it’s a bit boring
Triangle: Bits are OK - Blean to Long Reach and Herne to Broad Oak turn are largely hilly (partly wooded) country. The best part is (clockwise) from the top of Borstal Hill towards Whitstable but only lasts a couple of minutes, top deck front - you can see quite a bit of the Whitstable coast. Not based in North East Kent so cant comment on the Triangle/Breeze and Loop
17 and 18 - definitely agree but 18 was much better when it was double decker operated as you got a great view.18 is really nice but is always a single
17 is good as passes through the Elham Valley and you can get a decker most times
The 11A and 123 are also worth a mention
My understanding is that slightly more than half the journeys on the 10X are scheduled for DD operation, the rest being run by single deckers, which also operate all Sunday journeys (1 vehicle). Thanks! But I thought the 10X was mainly double decker? I know because not only I did a lot of research on the bustimes tracker, but when I went to Maidstone sometime in January 2020 I remember seeing 15488 or something like that do a 10X to Ashford.
A couple of lesser-known suggestions local to me, Yorkshire Tiger's 233 (Huddersfield to Denby Dale) and 435/436/437 (Wakefield to Holmfirth) are quite scenic at the 'country' end, with a contrast from the urban start. 233 gets deckers on some journeys, and Tiger do have a few singles with a forward view (not well up on types, I'm afraid!).
Surely one of the Jurassic Coast buses would be a good one to go with? Specially designed buses with larger windows to see and film more than usual and some stunning views, not least around Lyme Regis and Swyre on the X53.
Nice! About East Kent, routes I plan to do are as follows:
Wave 100/101/102
10X/10
1/1A/1X
2/2A
Triangle
Breeze 8/9
The Loop (not to be confused with Eastbourne's Loop)
Are they good routes?
(sorry for the very late reply, I only saw the reply now)
127 Loughborough to Shepshed. Mixture of City, villages and Towns.
126 is evening only Leicester,Loughborough to Coalville with extra village and towns after Shepshed. This is NOT stunning scenery but quite a mix.
