There is a tweet on the gnrp account confirming that all wires are up between Preston and Blackpool

Great!

I've been granted a pass-out for the testing due next Sunday, 15th April. Will anyone who gets any info on where and when please publish it on here as soon as?

I really do wish they’d quit saying electric trains are “quieter”...I live just under half a mile away from St Helens Junction station, and I can hear the high pitched whine of the train motors, even with my double-glazed windows closed!...I don’t recall being able to hear the diesels quite as clearly. Don’t get me wrong...I’d take an electric train over a diesel any day...but to say they’re quieter is just not true.

It is great to see so much happening, isn't it. Thanks for the bouquets....

...and now here's more: new contributor David Boyce has kindly sent shots of wiring at Poulton.

I've created an album for him here:

and added them to the Combined Volume here:

Thank you David, welcome aboard!

Many thanks for the welcomes the other day, and props to Wrinkley for the sterling contributions!

Snapped a few photos yesterday from the rail replacement bus at Poulton, 2 track vehicles working on the same track near Tithebarn Street bridge, started moving towards us just before the bus set off. Returned this morning to see one on each side under the Station Road bridge, no time to grab a photo. Also snapped one at Kirkham & Wesham. Poulton ticket office now has two brand new touchscreen (giant touchscreen!) ticket machines on the wall by the lift, the old cranky machine is no more. As an occasional rail user the rail replacement buses have been very good, love the views from the top deck, but definitely looking forward to having the trains back!

...and now there's even more!

On his expedition this morning Wrinkley met a local resident - Jim Tyrer - who has taken photos in the Lostock area for some time. He has kindly sent Wrinkley a remarkable batch depicting floods on Boxing Day 2016.

I've created an album for Jim and put his shots in it here:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/127646831@N03/albums/72157694639222774

I've also added them to the Combined Volume, but because that is chronological they appear many hundreds of photos ago, so I recommend looking at them in Jim's folder. Here's the Combined Volume anyway:

Fascinating stuff, Jim. Thank you and welcome.

Please may I add these photos to the flickr folders as per your others? If you give me a blanket OK that'll do for these and any future shots you may post in this way.

Wrinkley has followed his fine coverage of the mega electrical thingy arriving at Lostock yesterday with its installation this morning.

I've added his shots to his album here:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/127646831@N03/albums/72157654034635234

and added them to the Combined Volume here:

Wrinkley has now contributed over 1200 images for others' benefit.

He also got soaked to the skin for his pains.

Thank you Wrinkley.

Excellent. eye-opening shots - both of the thingy and the floods - now we know why !

Is this the test train?

I'm afraid I don't understand your question. I published next Saturday's RTT page which shows lots and lots of trains running to and from Blackpool North, as opposed to buses, and asked if it was real. I received a reply that it corresponds to what's on the national public timetable.

I've just looked on National Rail Enquiries and every service has an exclamation mark next to it linking to an explanation that the line is closed until Sunday 15th.

My brain hurts.

Both trains and buses are shown on RTT for Sunday 15th.

What I means would it be the test train Mentor, used for checking and testing the OHLE

That path is a scheduled test train that runs about once per month. It does sometimes include Mentor.

Just 93 mast foundations to be completed twixt Euston Junction and Ordsall Lane Junctions
Am I right in saying there were in the region of 2,000 to do over the whole route? If so, good progress. However, presumably many of these 93 are the ones which are particularly hard to do?
