Blokes avoiding the urinals and peeing all over the toilet seat instead. Is this a thing now ?

Nor are they likely to if there were no cubicles to have a dump (see the China example above) but would you mind that? I think I prefer to sit down in peace if needing that

honestly not bothered. If the custom where you are is to use some kind of communal latrine then so be it. I think. Once you get over the initial shock what is the issue?

BTW - the away end toilets at Bootham Crescent were a roofless brick box, with a channel cut into the floor on three sides. The flush was rain water. It was dank and green and slimy. Try a 1000 blokes all needing a half time pee after many pre match beers. Good luck having a sit down.

I do, every other Saturday. The bigger problem is waiting for the blokes who insist on getting into the cubicle just before half time so they can have a smoke! Happens every single game, wherever I'm sitting, so it's very widespread. You can easily smell it and see the smoke, so I can't understand how they get away with it. Everyone knows it happens. Just like it used to be in the school bogs, which were always taken over by the smokers at every break - teachers knew but ignored it.

Because the buttons never last and so your bits pop out uncomfortably, and unless you're going round wearing compression shorts all the time it's not hard to pull them aside.

Without buttons, there is overlapping fabric to be pulled aside in two ways. No chance of bits escaping. Definitely better than buttons and definitely better than certain brands (ck!) which seem to both have no hole or buttons and be designed for "Action Joe" (do you know that toy in the UK?) with no space for bits.

Is the rise of holeless buttonless pants why more men now pee all over cubicles?

Ive generally always got a bag with me and i always have a packet of baby wipes in there should i ever find this - tissue paper first then clean it with the wipes then sit down.

I have no problem with Y Fronts (or more usually supermarket own brand lookalikes). Easy to use at the porcelain and everything comfortably supported if you have an active lifestyle.

Zips and todgers are not a good combination...did anyone else as a kid have to go running to their mum with a "zipped todger"

I tend to prefer the cubicle to the urinal if it is moderately busy. I get bladder shyness if there is someone each side literally inches away meaning it takes considerable effort to release, arguably irrational but completely involuntary.

No, but not the worst I've used in a club. Being unisex does rather help I think.

What would happen if you did get started?

For what it's worth, I'm not sure the 'always wash your hands' thing is so clear cut: If you've just used the urinal, then presumably the only things you've touched are... yourself, and your trouser zip/buttons. However, if the toilet has taps that you have to physically touch to operate, then washing your hands means you need to handle a tap that's already been handled by - maybe, hundreds of other people since it was last cleaned. And those ones that you have to press down and which only let the water flow while you're pressing them down are even worse, as those mean you have to press firmly for several seconds, exactly where everyone else was pressing it - and continue pressing with at least one hand after you've finished washing it. I wonder whether, depending on what kinds of taps the toilet has and how careful you were when you were peeing/doing up your trousers/etc., washing your hands might actually be a lot worse for hygiene than not washing them.

Just to put another slant on this...

Whatever happened to wall to floor type urinals that had a small step up so that any dribbles would be caught on porcelain (or for those too short for the cup type urinals) would end up down the drain and not pooling on the floor?

Some places still have them, rare but they do exist!

Some GN stations used to have them until some idiot decided waterless urinals were the way forward despite the obvious issues that the waterless urinals stank the toilets out more then the old ones!
