The Bluebell Railway have now acquired a 1968 Rolls Royce engined Sentinel which now means that the 08 shunter can be dispense with.

When Leeds Holbeck Shed (55A) closed in the 90's all the freight work came to Healey Mills.
Amonst the jobs that HM got was at a scrap yard at Shipley.
This yard was in the old goods yard on the route upto Bradford Foster Square.
This company is called Crossley Evans, and is still open to this day.
They used a Sentinal 0-6-0 for internal shunts within the yard
for the last 20 years

So why no keep the 08 for spoil trains as it's braked & the other Sentinel for shunting rolling stock about?

Much more sensible.

I see the 08 actually operated a passenger train on the line due to a steam failure last week. That will no doubt have upset a few people there who would have preferred that the train be cancelled altogether!

The 08 is only on hire to them - it is regarded as a piece of 'plant' so will no doubt be leaving when the spoil moves are over.

Southern end spoil trains are now complete. The next lot will be from the north of the tip site and be operated under contract to First GBRF. If you've got some spare cash, you can sponsor a train and it will carry your own headboard!

The sentinel shunter will be based at Horsted Keynes (Carriage and Wagon) and be used for ad hoc shunting. Regular, scheduled shunting (now most Saturdays) will still be done using a steam locomotive, subject to availability.
