Can we get the orbital railway anyway? London Overground really, really isn't the "Railway M25" Boris heralded it as.

I think you might be asking a bit too much there. Whatever did Sheerness do to deserve a through service to London?
Oh, wait...
Back in BR days we had direct services to/from London and also the Kent Coast ... It was a train from London that smashed through the buffers and demolished the ticket office ...
