As reported originally on the Branch Line Society (BLS) website and then Gensheet, Brockenhurst P3 is currently out of use (OOU), resulting in trains to the south using P1/P4.

As this has been ongoing for a few days now, I was wondering what the problem is, and how much longer this is expected to last?

Thanks for any insight, as it may mean a trip to Sway tomorrow or Saturday!

Ongoing but intermittent track circuit failure. Needs overnight access to rectify.

Minimal disruption using 1&4 (a minute or two) just because of 15mph points either way.

Just been watching 1W75 go through P3 as normal on OpenTrainTimes map view. Does that mean they’re risking P3 if the shuttle is in P4?

Don't think so, trains have been sent through 1 a few times if shuttle is in or near 4.

If the track circuit is showing occupied then it's easier to re - route under established signaling rather than degraded working through 3 which would take longer and cause more delays.

It's been a intermittent failure for weeks and is waiting a permanent repair (rather than whatever the temporary repair there using) but understand it needs overnight access by s&t.

If the track circuit stays clear then signallers will use it while the can subject to their rules.
