Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could answer a question for me? I recently booked two tickets on the sleeper from London Euston to Aberdeen and it automatically allocated us berths 21L and 22U in coach D. Is this a good allocation that we have been given, as I have been told that it is right above the bogie? If this is the case is it possible to change the berth allocation by contacting Scotrail or going to the station? The person that I am travelling with has poor mobility and I am not sure if it is a long walk at Euston as I am not sure what end of the train coach D is at, can anyone advise please? Many thanks for your help.

Contact ScotRail directly
If you want "quieter" berths, you want numbers 11 to 15, as they are in the middle

Coach D is towards the rear of the train at Euston, so you won't have far to walk
This is also the third coach from the Lounge Car, pretty much in the middle of the Aberdeen set, so it will be 5th coach you come to

Thanks rail-britain for the quick response as well as the info, very much appreciated. I shall contact Scotrail and see if they can help.

I have to admit that normally when I have got the sleeper the Aberdeen portion has been at the London end, but on Friday night when going to Aberdeen the Inverness portion was right at the bufferstops, with the Aberdeen portion oddly in the middle.

It might be worth noting that there is a dedicated disabled access berth, and a BR wheelchair can be arranged to take your companion down to the platform, ask about this assistance when you contact ScotRail.

Apologies, northbound you are correct :
Inverness - Aberdeen - Fort William
Therefore the Aberdeen is in the "middle"
Therefore Coaches A to E are out of sequence northbound

Coach D should be the 12th coach

Just a thought, but isn't this allocation the larger disabled access cabin?
I've checked the layout and it is not, also this would Coach B

Thanks again for the updates, I called Scotrail reservations to see if they could assist me, however the person I spoke to said that they config changes on a regular basis so I am going to contact their assisted travel department to arrange assistance at Euston as well as seeing if we can get the carriage with the disabled toilet.

I shall keep you posted on how I get on and thanks again.

I think not, the Aberdeen has to be in the middle as it needs to be in that order for the splitting process at Edinburgh
However, it does sometimes get mixed up southbound if things are going wrong!

Equally, sometimes one of the entire northbound sets can be missing, but ScotRail will normally phone you during the day if that is the case
As an example, the Aberdeen could be terminated the night before, leaving the subsequent nights northbound with no set
Passengers would then be asked if they want to swap to the Glasgow / Edinburgh (if there is capacity), upgrade to First Class for immediate travel, or overnight stay with travel the following day upgraded to First Class
