Those are great videos @mr_moo! Thanks for sharing. Good to have some professional competition :).

Things have been fairly quiet the last few days, so no photos. The assembly of roof panels continues and there is now a large stack in front of the west building. On the east side it looks like preparation is being made to pour the concrete floor.

I am guessing we will see another burst of activity at the weekend after next as there looks to be a scheduled posession for the bank holiday.

Automerged Update from Saturday 27/04 (and photos added): I managed to get down to take some pictures this morning. At the station site you can see the pile of finished roof sections waiting to be lifted into place. I think you can see the foundations for the supporting columns to the south of the finished building. This will be the roof for the station canopy and cycling parking. It looks like work is underway preparing the trackbed in p1/p2 with most of the cables now removed and the few remaining pushed to one side by the look of it.

There was also a crane in operation near Addenbrookes road. I believe it is installing a bridge over Hobson's brook which will be the new access to the field there now that Duke's crossing over the railway has been closed. You can see the crane in the distance of IMG_6670 to get an idea of where it is located.

Thanks neill. Great pics.

The new bridge will indeed link Addenbrookes road to the farm land.
Dukes LC has already been taken out of use, but the farmer is currently using Websters LC (the one near the footbridge to the South of the site) to access the fields.

The bridge will allow access to the field sfrom the Noth, which in turn allows Websters crossing to be taken out of use, which in turn allows Shepreth Branch Junction to be remodelled.

There is indeed another possession next weekend - that's going to be a significant milestone but I'll share more on that later.

Any news on the expected closures for July? I have some weekend trips coming up with luggage where I would like to avoid the bus replacement.

And here is some more footage of trains from the weekend (mostly an exercise in learning to edit!).

A brief update from me from this morning. The supports for the canopy on the west side are being installed, and preparation continues for the concrete floor of the east building.

I am curious if the canopy will be lifted before the weekend possession. Some crane lifts have been happening while the line is open but others haven’t. I wonder if it is to do with proximity to the open lines, the size of the object or some other factors?

I would guess at some point soon we will also see the island platform structure being assembled so that the footbridge can be installed.

Yep. Cranes are assessed for their ability to foul the line with their loads (with restrictors in place of course) and also risk assessed for worst case, shoud they collapse etc. Out of that comes an assessment that some lifts are safe to do with the railway open and some require the railway to be closed, so you'll see a mixture.

An update from me then. I have some photos for you all to enjoy. These were taken on 22nd April, so are a little out of date but pretty interesting nonetheless I hope you'll agree! I hope you'll forgive my tardiness in posting. :)

Here's what a semi-complete station builidng looks like inside!

This is the West side building coming along well. We have stairs installed and the roof is proceeding rapidly.

Some more:

Anyone want a lift? (No idea why the forum has rotated the pic. Sorry!)

And then over to the East side, where the start of the lift shaft is in plus ground works for the base slab are progressing:

And a view of the West from the East:
P1015626.JPGP1015638.JPG

Then we move down towards Shepreth Branch junction, where you can see a set of S&C being built up:
20240423_104525.JPG20240423_104535.JPG

This is our big milestone. This coming weekend will see the first three point ends for the new layout being installed. The new turnout for what will be the extended Down Royston, plus the new crossover that will form part of the elongated Shepreth Branch junction will all be installed.
The final turnout for the new Shepreth branch junction cannot be installed until the existing junction layout is taken up, as it's in the same place, so that's in the final comisisong blockade of course.

There will also be some OLE changes in the Hills road area to prepare for the future new layout, and the station building will have further elements craned in too.

Lots to see this weekend!

There certainly is. Already this morning the station canopy is being lifted in and a large crane being assembled on the east side presumably to lift in what looks like parts of the island stairs which have arrived by road.

Meanwhile at Shrepreth branch junction work is preceding as @mr_moo describes above. The Kirow rail crane was a nice surprise.

I have drone photos and video which I will post later. Not sure if I will get out again tomorrow but if not hopefully will have a look at progress on Monday afternoon.

Update 1: Drone photos from Saturday morning, south of Addenbrookes road showing the work on the junction.

Update 2: Drone photo of station construction from Saturday morning.

Update 3: Here is a video from yesterday morning.

Update 4: Added photos from Sunday lunchtime. Most of the canopy is now in place, the first structure has been built for the island bridge/stairs, and the large crane was packing away. Up near Cambridge station some OHL work was going on - looked like the new structures were being wired up and the old ones de-wired.
