I've decided to upgrade my camera after a spell using a digital compact (a Samsung NV-7 7mp with a 270mm zoom lens) and have narrowed my choice to these 2 digital SLR's, the Samsung has got some rave reviews but i've not seen many around compared to the more popular canon both are in the £450-£550 price range and both are excellent camera's.

Personally, I would go for the Samsung (only because I have the lenses). As mentioned elsewhere, it is a re-badged K10D, and that isn't a bad bit of kit at all ....

I would choose the 400D over the Samsung.

Samsung make TVs and Phones. They have not got the first clue how to produce a camera with any sort of white balance.

I agree with your decision with the pentax. The only problem with the Canon range is that it moves on so fast. The EOS 40D is on the horizon and that would make the 400D cheap as chips.

Hi by the way.
