Cheapest way from Birmingham/midlands to Cardiff

the cheapest I can get new st to Cardiff is £28.40 ish return with railcard , splitting on cross country at Gloucester. Can anyone do any better? pm me if necessary, I can go from Wolverhampton, Coventry etc if need be. this is to go either this Wednesday or Thursday. Thanks

You could travel via Shrewsbury - there are some cheap advances on the Marches line available at the moment.

Going via Hereford on off-peak day returns is £27.20 (with railcard).

Thanks a lot I will do advances via Shrewsbury. Have never done the Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury line before.
