Chiltern have posted a job advert for a "Trainee Train Manager" - http://www.chilternrailways.co.uk/c/jobs

It seems to be the case based on the advert that at Chiltern "Trainee Train Manager" is a separately defined, permanent position with it's own set of duties rather than a temporary state before passing out as a Train Manager. Have I got this right? If so, it's very novel definition of the word trainee!

Under the same logic, all Shop Assistants would be "Trainee Store Managers", Cleaners would be "Trainee Cleaning Team Leaders" and George Osborne would be the "Trainee Prime Minsister" ;)

A "trainee train manager" is exactly that. Someone who is not qualified for the role and will become a train manager after training.

Or "trainee train manager" could have, you know, a different salary to a qualified train manager...
