I'm sorry but your missing the point here. Eurostar services would be considered to be a high profile target hence the extra security. I really don't understand why people have issues with the security arrangements at St Pancras. Why is it such a problem?
Personally I don't have any kind of problem with the security arrangements at St Pancras, but I definitely do have a problem with them at Brussels Midi. My last two journeys from there have suffered late starts as a result of a larger proportion of non EU passengers going through the UK border agency checks. The delays both resulted in a loss of path through the tunnel and over HS1 meaning that I have missed my intended service from Paddington home to Bristol. I shall be very interested to see how this problem is managed once any through service from Germany starts, as my understanding is that currently the UK border agency refuses to send any staff further than Paris or Brussels.

With respect, you are confusing Security and Border Control. These are quite different types of check, carried out for different reasons.

Maybe so, but both are part of the additional hassle factor involving international trains serving the UK compared with the rest of Europe.
