A second refurb? They barely got a first one, other than the 465/9s!I think the 465s and 466s have earned a second refurb. Though somehow I also think it’s not very likely to happen.

True. I can only speculate as to why that was. There was a lot of vandalism to repair. They probably had to replace every window in every unit for one, which may have limited the amount of money they had to spend on changes to the interior. At the time they may have thought that items like the floor and the paint on the handrails still had some wear left.A second refurb? They barely got a first one, other than the 465/9s!
It was in service 6 day ago when I last travelled on it!what is the current status of 465014?
It’s been almost a month. Any news on these two?465240 & 465248 are current on their way to Doncaster.
No issues with sourcing stock. Unit from Tonbridge was gapped on friday and then there was a defect today that meant the stock had to be remarshalled on arrival at Ashford. The last 2 working days seem to have had issues with sourcing stock to run the second half of the day, with the 15:03 AFK-VIC cancelled both on Friday and today (although the empty stock move to Ashford from Tonbridge seemed to go ahead today). On Friday 465182 + 466037 appeared to start from the 16:55 VIC-AFK, and was used also in this morning's diagrams.
I see. I notice that 465911 and an unidentified 466 eventually ran empty to Maidstone to start the 16:55 diagram from Maidstone instead, then resumed the sequence from 18:55 out of Ashford. Was that the defective stock or a draft-in?No issues with sourcing stock. In other words they are either not fit for service and/or not needed at this time.5Q46 0943 Doncaster - Ely 37884 465240/248

What actually is going on with the 465/2s involved? My first guess based on this latest move is they're inspecting them all and seeing which ones are service-worthy and 240+248 didn't meet that.VSTP 05/09 5Q24 1037 Ely - Doncaster Works 37884 465235

What was a 465/9 doing at Ely? Aren't they all supposed to be in service?According to photos on Flickr it was 37884 with 465912. Photo by Keith Partlow: https://flickr.com/photos/tibshelf/52379367460/

Thank you for confirming, looks like they'll try and fix the cracked bodywork that was apparently identified on it.According to photos on Flickr it was 37884 with 465912. Photo by Keith Partlow: https://flickr.com/photos/tibshelf/52379367460/
Another refurb??? Most of them are yet, except for disabled toilet fitting, to have any significant refurb!I think covid has given all but the ones already in store a life extension, as the fleet size is too large to be entirely replaced without a new order, something the DfT will not be keen on currently. Whether they'll get another refurb is another matter entirely.
Budget cuts?Once the 707s arrive in full, there's no excuse to not have a proper refurb scheme on the Networkers and 376s.
I'm sure I saw 929 in service very recently. 912 did go into store but since moved back to Doncaster works, don't know about 907.According to wikipedia, 465907/465912/465929 have been stored. How many more /9s will be stored? If they store them all at this stage, that'd be a net loss in stock. Plus, they are by far the best of the 465s, looking much better than the /0 and /1 inside.
If they are broken it isn't really a loss in stock as they aren't available for service in any case. Given the 465/2s have gone, it does seem logical that the 465/9s would go if there are further fleet cuts to be made, although it doesn't help release the 377/5s.If they store them all at this stage, that'd be a net loss in stock.
Do you what diagram on RTT this was? I've tried searching but can't find anything that fits.465912 has been pictured on a Wabtec to Wembley move today
The /9s are in a much better condition than the /2s, though. According to reliability figures as of 2020 they are more reliable than /0s and /1s, and do seem to have a performance edge in the dry, as timed by me and some other people on several occasions. Though I will admit the last part is subjective as driver power etc.If they are broken it isn't really a loss in stock as they aren't available for service in any case.
