810008 leaves for Old Dalby today, ready for driver training this week - 5Q30. Will be nice to see a full livery and seats up and down the MML over the next few days.
The driver training started last week using a different unit at Old Dalby, using the test track there.
This weeks paths will be first on the Midland Mainline for EMR drivers (or managers).

Saw the 810 on railcam, and it looks nice in full livery. Its basically the 222104 livery.

Absolutely agree with you - no regional users should have to suffer as a result of such a situation. What’s more, even though they account for little revenue, the regional transport links are vital for those who are away from the MML.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am absolutely against regional stock being poached for IC services. I raised it as an “all options open” sort of hypothesis.
Also the regional services act as feeders for the MML so they are also vital for the mainline as well.

Taken from 8XX Appreciation Group on Facebook

First Aurora MML run driven by EMR driver tomorrow (Tuesday 15th April)

125mph, dynamic and static power changeover, the works across all the runs on the MML this week

That’s what I was thinking…

To go back on-topic, that 810 looks fantastic and I look forward to seeing electric intercity trains coming through Kentish Town.
And it’ll be nice to have STP diesel free once the 222 > 810 transition is finished.

There is a 8XX Appreciation Group? And nobody is seeking help for them?
I’m part of it, but only so that I can see updates.

Also, depends on the interpretation of “appreciation”… I appreciate that they exist, not because I’m in love with them

Yep, our community’s special nickname/code name for them going forward is clearly the Krytens, not the Eight-tens
I think that’s the best/funniest nickname I’ve ever heard! Although it’s probably a case of “you had to be there” to get it……….

Nothing like getting things off to a good start
No reports until Melton Mowbray but maybe did start at Old Dalby.

Now late and maybe paused/getting-later at Oakham.

Follows on with 5Q41 then 5Q42 to get to StPancras theoretically.

Thanks to Peter Sarf for the above

For me (and others who don't use Facebook) that's just a login prompt.
I’ve quoted the text from the FB post so you can read it.
For anyone who uses FB they obviously can click through to the post.

And the run today from Old Dalby to St Pancras was cancelled.
Because that’s isn’t the path they are using today!

Nothing like getting things off to a good start
They are not using that path! They are using the first path to Bedford.

It did start at Old Dalby, but as Old Dalby is off the mainline it won’t report until passes Melton Mowbray, or until Melton signaller manually inputs time in for Old Dalby.

Just to be clear, what's the closest to an estimated date for entry into service of the 810s that's known of? And is 2026 looking much more likely than 2025, or...?

EMR are hopeful for September this year for the first one to enter service, to allow for the first 222s to be released. Whether that actually happens remains to be seen...
