Does anyone know the "official" closure date of the Nottingham direct route between Kettering and Nottingham? Rationalisation of this line had in fact commenced with the closure of Geddington, Harringworth, Upper Broughton, Widmerpool, Plumtree and Edwalton stations during the 1940s, followed by the withdrawal of passenger services from Grimston with effect from 4 February 1957 and the closure of the remaining intermediate stations at Corby, Gretton and Old Dalby with effect from 18 April 1966. This should have been the end of the line, but some secondary sources say that closure took place in 1967 (?) I think the line was removed from the official BR map in 1966.

The following photo (click on it to go to the larger original) says that Geddington closed 1-11-1948 and the line lasted until 6/6/66.

The photographer has published a large number of pictures on the Geograph website and seems to know what he is talking about. The 'Disused Stations' website hasn't covered this line yet.
