It's 55824 originally from 144001. 001 was named 'Penistone Line Partnership'. The other half is at Airedale Hospital.

I suspect the OP is asking about the mk1 rather than the Pacer. A quick search on Flickr reveals this image of the mk1 being craned into position, and gives the number as E4325.

ever wondered how BR MK1 coach E4325 came to be stranded in the original platform 2 at Huddersfield station?

well, it was craned in on a sunday afternoon. here it is, about to lined up for going back on it's bogies. It was a right job getting it under the canopy, the coach roof banged against it at the last moment and there were a few creaking sounds, but nothing broke. the crane driver couldn't see a thing, a skilled radio operator talked the operation through and it was amazing seeing it done.

25th November 1985.

Built in 1956 by Birmingham R C & W company, withdrawn in 1984. It is a TSO (Tourist Second Open), as can be told both from the number and from the number of windows (eight, corresponding to the number of seating bays - a First would only have seven because the seats were spaced further apart, and in all rolling stock from the Liverpool & Manchester Railway up to the Mark 2f they had the strange idea that the windows should line up with the seats!

(It was the Mark 3 which ended this, at least for Second Class, as both classes used the same body shell and the windows were arranged to suit First Class)
