I can't answer the question (sorry), but during the lockdowns, they were sat in the depot (or, very similar carriages were). Suspicion would be just storage - but maybe someone could confirm as they have been there, on and off, for atleast a year.

Anyone know why these are here in the sidings behind Knottingley Station.
It was reported that Controlled Emission Toilets were being fitted at Knottingley to these coaches, which are part of the Riviera Trains fleet.

Possibly door bars too. Basically enhancements to make them eligible to continue mainline railtour service.

Only to the Mk2 fleet though. The future of the Mk1 set with Riviera remains uncertain (trust me, it is a lot more expensive). A number of Mk2s have now been fitted and we’re out on test recently.

How do you test CETs?

Someone must have to have eaten a dodgy kebab (plenty round Knottingley!) and then had a lovely train ride around Yorkshire trying to fill the CET tanks up!!

Knottingley currently has 19 coaches on depot , probably just a temporary move space being the issue , the WRD is modifying wagons from Tees Yard - taking the wooden floors out - making them useable for a new slab contract from Scunthorpe reportedly starting around now.
