It has just been noticed that in the past few days or so Colas class 70s from Barnetby have replaced the DB class 60s on the Kingsbury to Humber and Lindsey flows respectively, which have usually been provided from Immingham with the class 60s. With 70813 70814 Colas locomotives on these services.
However only 3 class 60 DB locomotives are out today, it looks like DB still have the usual steel flows and still the Welsh petroleum flows ie Margam to Westerleigh for example.
However these appear to be becoming class 66s as well.

Have the DB class 60 possibly come to a end or near enough? Also have DB Shenker lost a fuel petroleum contract flow from Kingsbury to Lindsey and Humber to Colas as well?
Less work for Immingham but more work for Barnteby colas Depot because very recent observations since end July 30th 2022 onwards appear that Colas have or may have taken over a DB fuel contract flow.

Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you

It's just traffic from LOR that Colas have. Humber Refinery workings are still in DB hands.

Colas actually took over a month ago (Sunday July 3rd).

They now operate all traffic from Lindsey (to Kingsbury, Jarrow, Neville Hill and Immingham)
as the Freightliner fuel oil working to Ipswich has finished.

Thank you. However could it mean a less future for the Db class 60s. Any information is much appreciated.
Thank you.

The DB 60s still have a role, although the number in service rarely seems to exceed single digits. Their regular work is mostly:

1) Petroleum from Robeston to Westerleigh and Theale (I think this requires 3 locos to cover the workings fully).
2) Steel coil from Boston to Wolverhampton and Swindon
3) Steel coil from Immingham to Wolverhampton
4) Steel from Scunthorpe to Lackenby (usually 2 round trips per day for a single loco)
5) Limestone from Tunstead to Lostock (Northwich "hoppers")
6) Petroleum from Humber Refinery (66s also used)
Sometimes a second loco is at Peak, quite often working to Attercliffe.

Most of these services require a 60 in order to pull a full trainload, 66s can substitute but with slightly reduced weight. This applies to the Robeston trains, for example. The loadings for steel trains into Wolverhampton are restricted by Soho bank (Birmingham), the Scunthorpe to Lackenby steel trains can run with up to 44 wagons which requires a 60 (or a pair of 66s) for a full train, and the "hoppers" starting from Tunstead have a tough climb up to Peak Forest. The Humber - Kingsbury services can run with 30 tanks via Lincoln with either a 60 or a 66, but 60s are useful if there are diversions for engineering work and they have to work over the slightly more steeply graded route via Scunthorpe.

I don't know about their long-term prospects but I think they'll be around for a while, and in the short term, as sandite season approaches the requirement for locos tends to increase.
