-17.6 oC was recorded at Woodford near Stockport last Winter, although not necessarily at the same time as any train was in operation in the area.

On the platforms at Blackfriars station. It's right above the Thames.

I wonder if there is a clue in the location of the UK's only (to my knowledge) Snow Shed installed as protection and/or a refuge over a running line? Its at Cruachan near Corrour.

I admit that recurring depth of snow doesn't imply the lowest temperatures, and they might be found further north, probably towards Caithness, based on wide-area average temperatures.

Most likely not cold, but i've always found Westbury to be a very uncomfortable station in cold or windy weather.

Newer stations like Armadale arn't particlarly nice in cold / windy weather either.

I have to agree about westbury station, taunton isnt much better as anyone who has travelled on the FGW night riviera sleeper from there can testify.

Swansea can be cold on some winter nights as is fishguard Harbour at 01:30

Although in a reasonably urban area, I seem to remember that, last winter, Cherry Tree was freezing. Further, I can remember being somewhere last December and thinking that it was probably the coldest I had ever been, but for the life if me I can't think where.

I wonder if there is a clue in the location of the UK's only (to my knowledge) Snow Shed installed as protection and/or a refuge over a running line? Its at Cruachan near Corrour.

I am 99% certain that that is the only one remaining, but I would like to know if any existed elsewhere though.

Peterborough is pretty bad (not as severe as some of the others mentioned but it always seems to be chilly!), always seems to be windy there

Peterborough is pretty bad . . .
I don't know why that would be, though there are significantly lower temps on the eastern side of the UK (due to the warm gulf-stream favouring the western side of the hilly ridges that create our land-mass). But I wonder if Peterborough's low level may be a factor? It must be the lowest inland city station and just a few meters above sea level (and only 5 miles from where the ECML runs at or below sea level), it's geographically quite unique.

Never been but Forsinard and Achnasheen look in the right places to be quite cold at winter.

Dalwhinnie is the coldest place in the UK for average year round temperatures... (+6C) ALL YEAR ROUND average.

I would imagine Slochd Summit is probably the coldest bit on the whole network however.

Achnasheen gets the extreme temperatures record, but because it's normally quite warm in the summers it won't beat Dalwhinnie or Slochd for average ALL YEAR ROUND temps.

The new Drumgelloch train station in Scotland won't be a good place to wait for a train come January. Armadale (as another poster mentioned) is another freezing cold station.

Cleethorpes Station. Cleethorpes is always a part of my occasional trips to Grimsby, but I book to Grimsby Town and get the bus to Cleethorpes thereby avoiding the station itself completely
