You need to tell us what graphics card you have.

4.4 is a bit below average these days for a WPE...

If you want to see if your computer is capable of handling RW, do what I did. Click the link I have provided. When you reach the page, type 'Rail Simulator' in the box or select it from the dropdown menu.

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/

Run the diagnostic. A full set of results will be displayed outlining your computer specification and if it is capable of running the game. It will also tell you what you need to upgrade/replace (like video cards, graphics drivers etc) if any of your software is not good enough.

This link was given to me by fellow forum member Darandio

You can also see your PC specs by typing 'dxdiag' in the Windows Start Menu and running the programme when prompted.

I have AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200. For sound, the latest version of DirectX comes with the game.

My processor is an AMD Athlon Dual Core M300 with 2.0GHz. The game runs perfectly well. Sometimes it looks a little blurry on the rails ahead, but I have no stuttering problems or slow downs.

I'd also recommend you buy the game now, because with RW3 just around the corner, RW2 is available at discount price on the Steam Store.

I've added a couple of my screenshots for you.

DirectX is more that just sound, and in fact mainly focuses on video.
Not sure which components RW utilises though.

And the size of the graphics memory on the card (eg. 512MB, 1GB etc).

I think you should be OK for reasonable settings though
