congleton to inverness ??

i want to go on friday morning and come back on sunday, the NR website has quoted a cheapest fare of £113 is that the walk on fare do you think ??? i dont want to be tied to certain trains :roll:

Without splitting and without advance fares, yes, £113.30 would be the cheapest walk on fare. Are you eligible for a railcard?

no im afraid not !! £113 isnt too bad i suppose,ive tried splitting at edinburgh but is not much diffrence :(

Splitting the journey into a combination of tickets is unlikely to help. In fact, some intermediate journeys actually cost more (e.g. Congleton to Aviemore or Manchester to Inverness).

From experience, splitting at Edinburgh may do the trick. Outside of school holidays, knock-down advances (and Advance Firsts) can be had a few weeks before on the Highland Chieftain from Edinburgh to Inverness

cheers... but its a spur of the moment trip and im going in 2 days so not much use though the return on sunday to edinburgh was cheap it still didnt work out cheaper when added to the outward journey
