Ah. Could GWR use yours if they wanted to? Or would it not work, because yours is varnished teak instead of chocolate and cream (or something a bit more techie than that)?
The distributed system works perfectly well. There is no need to change it. There is no greater possibility of fraud or other risk arising from it than there is from a central database. The statement from GWR was from a PR person who was just making things up and doesn’t understand how things work. The distributed system also means that there is no single point of failure.
