The same could be said about TfGM with the exception of a few Derbyshire towns.

TfGM have refused to work with Cheshire councils on proposals for the Middlewich branch and TfGM have drawn up proposals for tram-trains on the Mid-Cheshire line and a Baguley interchange served by an Altrincham-Stockport shuttle, which doesn't even acknowledge the fact that the Middlewich branch could be brought back in to use.

I passed a station today which said on its Northern-branded running-in board:
Welcome to Keighley from the Town Council (or it might have been Bingley, I forget).
I thought it was a nice local touch.
At least it shows the council knows it has a station and values it.

At Middlewich, alongside the old station site but outside the NR fence is a campaigning sign which reads:
Middlewich - Where's the Station?
Only visible to those on diverted Chester Voyagers, of course!

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
There's many overbridges which would cover for any loses. Many other overhead electrified rural lines seem to cope, for example Ely-Kings Lynn, the GEML and Newcastle-Edinburgh.

I think the term "many" is one that I would query, because in the town area and the surrounding environs, there is only one overbridge that crosses the railway line and that is the A500(T) at Willaston.....unless anyone else knows of any other railway overbridges besides that one that I have forgotten that would be used by high loaded hay-bale lorries.

At Knutsford the flower boxes are paid for by the town council and the artwork on display was done by local 6th formers.

They've also recently added signs saying something like 'The Home of Tatton Park.' Now Tatton Park itself is only a short walk from the station but the Mansion is about 3 miles away, with no connecting bus.

I understand the new station wouldn't be in exactly the same place as the old station.
