I pick up 6 packs of 25g or 33g single bags in Home Bargains when I am in the north - Surrey/Sussex is too posh for Home Bargains sadly. However, I haven't seen 50g bags in shops, only on trains!

Perhaps they are reserved for us Welsh. We are renowned for liking salt, and I find Godlen Wonder the saltiest crisps by far, at least in taste.

Anyway, back to to the trains, do any TOC's offer Yorkshire Crisps? Their website says that GC will offer them on their Bradford route - including Henderson's Yorkshire Sauce flavour!

Im a yorkshire man born and bred and not for the life of me could i tell you what yorkshire sauce is.

On the subject of 50g Golden Wonder, NXEC sold them when they first took over the franchise

I was about to say that, they do seem to be more of a "bargain" crisp now despite being quite good!

When I was a kid Golden Wonder crisps were in all corner shops but now since bl**dy Linekar and Walkers I haven't seen them in any corner shops except in Scotland.

Don't get me started on crisps when I was a kid. One word, "Tudor".

"Nothing but the best for you, right lad"

I agree, Spring Onion too. Which as it happens has become pretty much the hardest ever flavour to find these days.

Can you imagine the additives they used then though? Quite possibly a bit of crows foot and bulls testicle in there but who would have cared, they tasted lovely.

I think emt serve your basic walkers

I suppose EMT realise they'd be upsetting a good proportion of their Leicester passengers if they didn't!

Here is what I found...

[Description of "Yorkshire Sauce"]

To be spread on your Yorkshire Pudding, and washed-down with a cup of Yorkshire Tea? :D

Nay, lad, when I were a kid, crisps meant "Smiths"
In a normal paper bag which meant they quickly went soggy.
And if you ate the blue one in the dark you knew about it, as that was the salt in a paper twist! :D

Another blast from the past, they have made a comeback haven't they?

Opening a bag of "Salt N Shake" was always a tad exciting as there was the possibility of two salt bags, imagine that! :D

Anyway, crisps. It's surely got to be McCoy's for a quality salted crisp, hasn't it?! Though you now have to part with 95 of the Queen's pennies for a bag in the Pumpkin, jeez...

Go to WH Smiths instead - more often than not they have a "Two for £1" offer running on McCoy's...:)

Now, I don't like the taste of salt - I wish they'd bring back "salt 'n shake" so that I could eat the things unsalted...

Still available Peter, talked about just before. I think you can get them from Tesco if you have one. (Probably likely)

In fact, I think Tesco do their own brand version.

This thread got me thinking too much about crisps so I went to get some Numb and Spicy Hot Pot flavour from Lays (who must be Walkers)

Not available in the UK I do not think, but it might give the Wasabi Peas a run for their money.

I actually miss posh crisps now I see them mentioned so much.

You can still get Salt and Shake, they are by Walkers but it says 'originally Smiths' on the packet. I too like to just eat them plain. Sure I've seen own brand versions too.

You can only really get the sea salted Seabrooks around here, I know they do a lot more flavours as you can get them off their website. I know Walkers like to monopolise the supermarkets with their selling power.

I used to like a ham and mustard flavour, made by Brannigans. Not seen any for a long time, had a picture of a butcher on the bag.

Cheese and bacon Red Sky. Now sold in Upper Crust. Perfect accompaniment to a ham and mozzarella baguette. The only rival to Flamin' Hot Monster Munch or unsalted Salt n' Shake.

The only thing I don't like about the crisps is that they make an awful lot of noise in the quiet zone lol

Never let the facts get in the way of a good exaggeration. Just 0.4g difference in the sugar content per 100ml between Coke (10.6g) and Pepsi (11g). A 500ml bottle of either contains the equivalent of 12-13 teaspoons of granulated sugar. A teaspoonful being approx 4.2g.

So with both 500ml bottles it's nearer 50g of sugar.;)

Yeah, I have to admit I was exaggerating there. I meant it more tongue in cheek than seriously

Locally sourced produce is seen as the way forward on our trains, but i'm sure they sell one of the posh varieties as well, but don't ask me which!

Tyrells are by far the best crisp going!
