I have to say that the organisation of the rail replacement buses seems excellent - just what we expect from Stagecoach.
The lack of number may be because 'platform 7' is not a real (passenger) platform. Once the rest of the station reopens the 'platform 7' face will be taken out of use for public services.Realtime Trains doesn't show a platform number for London services, so probably is in use now.
It runs all the way to/from Spondon to reverse, believe it or not!Does anyone know which platform it uses at Long Eaton and how it crosses over to return?
Presumably it runs 'wrong line' for some distance?
I think it is to do with facilities at the station which is a simular reason why the buses towards crewe go to uttoxeter instead of tutbury. If your train terminated and went back but the bus had not turned up I'd rather wait at a station with facilities (staff, waiting area ect.) and not a station with just platforms and not much nearby (but that's my opinion). It runs all the way to/from Spondon to reverse, believe it or not!
Not sure why it can't run in passenger service??

Enough to warrant spending £millions on a new station? They were there!
having spent many years working on this type of points movers they are OK till something drops into the open switch side workings and buggers it up or the rail moves or it gets too cold for them to work correctly, give me a 63 machine any dayOoooh, I think heating is only designed for 94.7%...They should be able to turn it up a notch in February.
Are IBCLs really that bad?

Yes it is.So is new 5/old 6 in passenger use again, please?
I've walked over Mansfield Road bridge a few times and noticed protection in place on the Down Main. So with Matlock services running, are they taking possession between trains? There doesn't seem to be anything happening though.
Regarding bus operation, Arriva are using a Mercedes mini-bus at the moment which is in their livery with fleetnames. It says Rail Replacement on the destination and operates towards Burton. I've seen it several times but never seen a single passenger on it. Does anyone know it's purpose?

That's very clever predicting what is going to happen tomorrow but what happened today the 17th?Had another look at Derby today Friday 18th August:-

The platform will be its normal planned platfrom for before the remodelling. All the London trains have been useing platfrom 7 since the 22nd July.I was at Midland station Friday night to get some tickets and decided to have a look; I must admit I am a bit confused!
All being well, I'll be catching the 12.09 St Pancras train on Sunday, and according to both the NRES website and Realtime Trains it's using platform 4; but on Friday evening, that platform was very much still a worksite - and it's not signaled!
So unless there's a hell of a lot of work undertaken on Saturday, there's no way any trains can use no 4!
I noticed that a lot of new speed limit signs have been put in place, and surprised to see some showing 25; wasn't part of the plan to increase all to a minimum of 30, with 40 wherever possible?
Surprised that some MML trains running between Derby and Clay Cross via Ambergate (and vice versa) on 26th; I thought they'd finished weeks ago
