I wonder how many people actually use heavy rail from Edinburgh to Haymarket?
I did, once! Albeit back in 1975 when spotting at Waverley and wanting to bunk Haymarket Depot.....

Yes, probably - indeed, thinking about it that was the last time I used Haymarket myself. I was thinking more of single EDB-HYM journeys without a connection off other trains.Anyone coming to Haymarket from the south on a train that doesn’t run through?
Not many will so that, but there must surely be a few. It's only a couple of stops along the line from one station to the other, but is over six miles, so maybe too far to walk.Saltmarshe to Broomfleet.
Two stations which are in the middle of nowhere and don't get that many calls a dayNot many will so that, but there must surely be a few. It's only a couple of stops along the line from one station to the other, but is over six miles, so maybe too far to walk.
I have done it a few times myself - the missus (mobility impaired) coming north on a Transpennine and me needing to help her off at EDB. Those extra few minutes through Princes Street Gardens are very useful for locating her/luggage/inevitable shopping etc....Yes, probably - indeed, thinking about it that was the last time I used Haymarket myself. Warrington West to Sankey would fit. There must be plenty of adjacent station pairs in urban areas where the only people getting on at one and baling at the next are cranks scratching units/stations.
Only one direct service per day (SuX) each way between these two stations. Anyone able to look at the data to see just how low WAW->SNK patronage seemingly is?Warrington West to Sankey would fit.
Sankey to Warrington West is 6 per year. Railwaydata.co.uk doesn't allow searching for recently opened stations and railalefan.co.uk only shows the 100 most common flows from each station, so I can't see if it's the same the other way around.Only one direct service per day (SuX) each way between these two stations. Like I said up thread, cranks.Who on earth is taking those services? It's about 500m walk.
Newer stations – East Linton, Reston, Tottenham Court Road, Brent Cross West and Barking Riverside, at least – aren't showing up on the database for me.
Thanks for the heads up. Much appreciatedFYI Okehampton is not appearing in the origin station list - old look-up table perhaps?
