Derailed freight train between Berwick and Edinburgh as far as I can tell.

Class 91 and set derailed at Craignetinny on Saturday night
Cross Country sent their sets to Polmadie, had to swap a lot of sets resulting in the wrong units doing the wrong services
GNER had to send some sets to Heaton overnight

Is the 91 OK; will it be back in service soon or are we looking at a shortage of units in the near future?

I've checked to see if there are any additional Class 91s heading north today, but there is nothing
I therefore assume any damage is minimal, the set may even been returned to service already
There is no news of a Class 91 and set out of use, so far!

Where is the nearest re-railing unit and IIRC only EWS have such units/teams?

FSR also have a rerailing unit based at Haymarket
There is also a shared FSR / Network Rail rerailing unit based at Perth

Doesn't help when you get problems like this on top:

National Rail said:
Last Updated: 21:59
Route Affected: Doncaster, Peterborough / Stevenage, Alexandra Palace, Harringay & London Kings Cross
TOC/s Affected: First Capital Connect, GNER, Hull Trains
Description: Services between Alexandra Palace and London Kings Cross are being disrupted due to overhead wire problems at Harringay.

At present, a number of services in the area are stood.

It is not known how long this disruption will last.
Updates: 21:18 A limited number of services are now able to operate towards London - services from London are still at a stand.

Customers holding First Capital Connect tickets may travel on alternative services between London and St Albans.
21:39 The overhead wire problems have now been rectified and trains are now able to run normally. Residual cancellations and delays of up to 100 minutes can be expected for the rest of today's service.
21:55 Due to the overhead wire problems, the following alterations will apply:
20:05 London Kings Cross to Hull – will terminate at Doncaster with a replacement bus service in operation to Selby, Howden, Brough and Hull;
21:10 London Kings Cross to Leeds – cancelled;
20:30 London Kings Cross to Leeds – cancelled;
20:55 London Kings Cross to Leeds – additional service calling at Wakefield only;
21:30 London Kings Cross to Leeds – will be extended to Newcastle, calling at York, Northallerton, Darlington and Durham;
22:00 London Kings Cross to York - will be extended to Newcastle, calling at Northallerton, Darlington and Durham.

These problems with the overhead wires are becoming all too common, and Network Rail desperately need to consider some investment to bring the infastructure up to standard! Sadly, with the government we've got, the money will probably be spent on a new road :roll:

Leeds Pax turning up for the 21.30 would be well chuffed then to find the last service left half an hour before! Nice two hour wait at York for a Leeds TPE too. :s

Still 20.55 would have been good if it was a HST, express to Wakefield!

Whenever you post can we have this played?

Anyway, 1600 Kings X - Edinburgh was double headed 91. 91130 involved, damage pretty bad. Suspect may need attention at works, not fit for moving by rail.

Some sets stored at Portobello last night, CrossCountry stored some there for the morning service also, others at Heaton. Same again tonight as the damage in the depot is said to be extensive.

No shortage, set is rerailed and being inspected with little damage, will probably be in traffic tommorow with the spare 91 being used. Not much of a set shortage as there is a higher 91 to mallard ratio required for service, usually one spare, no biggie.

EWS called in to re-rail from Motherwell. FSR may have a rerailing crew Haymarket and Perth but if they do (which I've never heard of?) it's likely they only rerail their own trains. EWS have more experience in locos.

Presumably the 2130 could run via Leeds to York as it is booked HST. If not, there is a strange 2210 non stop from Kings Cross to Leeds in live departure boards - supposdely left KX 2325 and expected into Leeds at 0200! http://www.livedepartureboards.co.uk/ldb/train.aspx?C=LDS&T=LEEDS+++&J=1391555&Y=A&R=0&A=0 Is this an extra service laid on in place of the 2130 (now running to Newcastle)?
