It will be "interesting", to put it mildly, to see what happens this weekend when there is a heavily reduced service between Manchester and London (on Friday) and no service (on Saturday), just as thousands of football fans need to get from Manchester to London for the FA Cup Final.

On a separate note, I see that there is engineering work between Derby and Matlock which has completely closed the line until 11th June, with a replacement bus service provided. Yet there are no replacement buses on 31st May, 2nd June and 3rd June due to the ASLEF strike. Why should a train drivers strike affect the provision of a replacement bus service?

Easy to guess what will happen! The M6/M1/M40 will be more than a tad busy, if not gridlocked!

Understand that the various service stations along these primary motorway routes (from the North West to/from Wembley) will be designated either 'blue' or 'red'.
