Was booked Venice to Vienna on tonight's 7/12 train. Booked a single compartment with my first class Eurail ticket at OBB ticket office last Saturday for 116.00. Train shows up tonight and they said all Vienna sleeper coach riders had to ride in coach. Needless to say a lot of people upset. I had this trip circled on my 30 day Eurail pass. I jumped off the train at Venice Mestre and got a room. Didn't really know where I was going after Vienna ( I had no room booked anywhere) so getting off was an option for me. My question, will I be reimbursed my 116.00 from OBB/Nightjet? Thanks, Ringo

What do you mean you had to travel in the coach?

Oh right. Well, at least the cost of the sleeper reservation should be refunded, as it was not provided at all.

You'll need to file a claim and see.

I got €40 back from them in 2021 after a 75-minute delay on an Amsterdam to Munich trip that also saw a temporary failure of the hotel power i.e. the loss of air conditioning, electric sockets and most of the lights. That was fixed by the train stopping and doing the classic "turn it off and turn it on again". This was a Siemens Vectron-hauled train too at this point.

Tonight (i.e 18th to 19th) they have cancelled all sleeping accomodation on NJ470, can I chose not to travel and get a refund?, Would much prefer in such a case to travel in the day and grab a hotel

Probably the sleeping cars are still being investigated for damage and/or malfunctions... Yesterday the cars of NJ470 and IC60470 departed the yard in Hannover on their own (without locomotive attached) and collided head on with an RE at the nearby station.
