Good for EMR but bad for WMR due to the yew damper fault with the 196s meaning nothing is able to replace them - won’t surprise me one bit if all future repaints end up working out of Tyseley until they start entering service.

I must say I prefer the EMR livery on 170s to the interim WMR livery.

That’s true, although it might have been easier to not put the branding on.

The RMT union are going on strike on the 16th. However in a recent press release EMR have stated they still expect to launch the service on the 16th. It mainly talks about the benefits the service will bring to the line and also some more information about the trains themselves.

- Set is there to cover exams on other sets, which won’t be needed

I've seen banners advertising the new timetable at several EMR stations. Interestingly, although they look similar, there's 2 sorts;

At stations north of Kettering they say 'faster journey times' but no such claim is made at the newly-electrified stations. Instead, the claim is 'more environmentally friendly trains'.

I'm surprised that there's no sign yet of a proper 'launch' to the new electric service, seems very low key. Big contrast with the Euston line back in 1966.

153302 was at Worksop last week in Harry Needle's yard, unless it's moved on again. It was low loadered out of Ely and went by road (attached photo shows 153302 from a passing train at Worksop down yard).
